A hero can be at the burning house physically helping put out the fire, down the street putting their life on the line to catch the convict, or in the closest church spreading the word of their religion and how it has affect their life. Everywhere you go you can always find a hero nearby. The one that is like family to me that I consider a hero is my elementary teacher. She is there for anyone at any time. Starting at a young age, she was not always the best or brightest person around. She has told stories of the things that she has done and the trouble that she and her friends use to cause. In her late teens she decided this would not be the type of person that she wanted to be and decided to change the way that she was behaving. She started going to church and found programs that helped her change her way. After a while she started to reach out to her old friends and eventually got a few of them to change with her. After a while of this she decided she needed to help more people and more families and not just the friends and family that she knows best. She started to go to college and became a teacher that way every year she could help out at least another twenty kids and their families. For the past 48 years she has continuously helped out these families year after year. She has also reached out even farther and has helped children out by being a foster parent. Almost every year she would be given a child or two and has had to raise the kid for the year until someone was able to properly give them a home. Many of these children had mental problems from being switched in and out of homes and once she got them she was able to fully understand them and help them out tremendously, then after a couple months they were able to find a permanent home where she would send them and then get her next child. My Michigan hero is my mom, she is one of my biggest inspirations. She somehow raises five kids, is a school director at her work, working on getting her master's degree, is one of two color guard directors, runs back and forth for all of our sports and extracurriculars, and finally somehow still manages to cook dinner and help with homework. Like most human beings on this planet if ours I was born and raised by some other human. Most call them parents but depending on the situation it could be an aunt or even a total stranger. Whoever they are this person is crucial to your survival when you’re immature enough to care for yourself. A hero is someone that impacts your existence more than the many other strangers that shaped the world before you can. A hero exists currently in this time and place teaching you, caring, and sharing wisdom. Be it your grandmother, father, teacher, or best friend. The person I consider my personal hero would be my twin sister, Brittlyn Massey. She’s 16 years old and looks exactly like me, we’re identical twins. We’ve grown up together and have always had an amazing pact. She understands, has a calming presence and is compatible. I have never been so unquestionably influenced by anyone else. We’re great sisters and even better friends.
