In our concept video, we explored the concept of friendship. Or central idea was “the key to life is friendship and love.” We chose the images of us with each other and other friends because the friendship that we personally have together is one we’d never be able to live without. We have grown into one person almost. The other girls presented in the video are bonds that we hope will never break. These ladies have made us who we are today and the thought of going without them almost feels empty. We had no specific order to our content, we really just wanted to show how important these people are to us and our everyday lives, whether it’s being silly or serious or all dressed up for a dance. The soundtrack we chose is “If I Ain’t Got You”
Jay MacLeod’s Ain’t No Makin It: Aspirations and Attainment in a Low-Income Neighborhood follows a group of boys from a low-income housing development called Clarendon Heights. MacLeod interviews the boys multiple times during their lifetime to understand if they remained in lower income areas with the same low aspirations. He follows two groups of boys called the Hallway Hangers due to always hanging around the school hallways and the Brothers. The predominantly white Hallway Hangers participate in a different subculture compared to the predominantly black Brothers. For the Hallway Hangers, their main purpose involves being bad. Their definition of bad involves drinking alcohol and consuming drugs on a regular basis. The Brothers remain active
A good reaction arises in me when I see the union of society as you can clearly see in these videos analyzed; For example, in the video the movie Holding Ground part 2 About the Dudley Street Initiative in South Boston and Cabrini Green in Chicago, clearly see as a culture is work of a neighborhood in a way that reaches social neglect and harms the community general because poor hygiene and poor services become absolute owner and harm the good development of that community.
The Hero’s Journey is a theme I was somewhat familiar with prior to viewing the video. Although I haven’t actually read most of them many of my favorite films are from literary works. Many of them were named in the video. I was able to recognize the similar themes in The Wizard of Oz, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones and Harry Potter.
The central message of the video is that there are things in life that you cannot let go because they are part of you.
The Ken Burns' Jazz video was extremely interesting- I learned quite an immense amount of material in less than 90 minutes. A key impression that stood out to me was how a couple famous jazz musicians became so depressed and scared of others, who might steal their materials and styles of playing. Freddie Keppard even turned down the offer to possibly be the first jazz musician to be recorded, because he was afraid that musicians would begin using and stealing his work.
The Graeters video relates to what we have learned about business and change by showing us that change within a business is virtually inevitable. As times change and technology becomes more apparent, business must also change or use valuable resources to become more efficient to keep up with, or become more successful than the surrounding competition. Graeters experience with change was a bit different than that of other companies. Before technological innovations brought about the refrigerator and modern ice cream machines ice cream was a delicacy, it was something people couldn’t get every day or whenever they desired. In the times after though, many companies began to mass produce ice cream making thousands of gallons per day. Graeters
Our overall plan was to flat out have the interviews that we had and record them with the old school song mary jane. Once we continued to collaborate we decided on a more image approach. The challenges after the thought out plan where everyone putting in the work for editing the video. Charles didn’t help that much other than recording himself for the voice over. Alanna and Takiyah both put the work in to get the video looking nice. The transitional effects that we used in the video was so that we could make it less choppy and flow
Visual Analysis Essay The music video "Sick Boi" by Ren goes through a detailed session of what he believes therapy is like. Showing how the doctor “cared” for him during his session and his opinion on what she was saying. Analyze all of the imagery, lyrics, use of pathos, logos, and reactions from doctors and therapists. It is clear that Ren’s message is to show the lack of compassion towards mental health in modern medicine. He goes on to say how “sick” he is and not only talking about how upset he is, but also putting in a lot of imagery to make sure the watchers can see how upset he is without a doubt.
The Story, “So I Ain’t No Good Girl”, was written by Sharon Flake, I felt that she provides a very selfish character that affects the story. The girl has the cutest boy in school. When he looks at another girl, she gets mad and starts yelling at him. Then they calm down and are now laughing and talking. After that one of the good girl, the redheaded one comes back to our side of our street; she looks his way and smiles- just a little.
The song I am choosing to analyze is “Streets of Philadelphia” by Bruce Springsteen. The lyrics project isolation and struggle through the use of pathos and juxtaposition as a way to bring attention to homophobia in America. The video showcases the differences between race and the stigma surrounding people with AIDS. It’s really impactful and makes us think about the importance of breaking down those barriers and promoting acceptance and compassion. Bruce Springsteen was asked to make a song for the film “Philadelphia.”
The School House Rock video brought back memories of being a child watching it on T.V. Reminiscing aside, I believe that this video demonstrates multiculturalism. Grandma wears a pin that says “Kiss me I’m Irish”, which shows she is proud to be Irish but supports America by flying the American flag. I do not see anything negative about this video. Although this country was already inhabited by the American Indians, other countries came here and brought their culture with them. All over the United States, we celebrate holidays from other countries. For example St. Patrick’s Day is coming up. There are cultural festivals everywhere. Just in the vicinity I live in, there are Greek, Italian, and Polish festivals.
When thinking of a country music video, what comes to mind? Most would think of an old dirt road, beer, trucks, and girls. That’s not what a country music video is about, it’s about showing what the song is trying to say, through a video. A music video shouldn’t be about how good or bad the song is; you shouldn’t even hear the song when you watch the video. It should be about helping to tell and show the story, the way the artist wants the viewer to see it. A great country music video consists of three things: a narrative, visual effects, and the camera and lightening of it. Sturgill Simpson’s music video of “Brace for Impact” is not a typical country music video, but it is a country music video. It is an extraordinary and effective video,
In this video Say Something - Jazz / Soul A Great Big World Cover the musicians are Hudson Thames and Robyn Adele Anderson. Playing instruments are Mike Cottone on flugelhorn, Adam Kubota on bass, Allan Mednard on drums and Scott Bradlee on piano. I picked this video because of the modern day song election. This song selection draws in a younger crowd allowing them to hear a jazz remake of a pop song; this gives them an opportunity to be able to appreciate the forgotten genre of our era: Jazz. The flugelhorn and piano gave me a feel of the swing jazz era in 1935-1945. This modern day video I found has the same sound to me as the beginning Coleman Hawkins Body & Soul video. I really like this video and the song they chose to cover. I thought
In the beginning of the video, notice how the viewer is tricked into thinking Lamar was driving around with a couple of friends in the car. When in reality, we see that the car is being carried around by police officers. But the way these police officers are working hard to carry Lamar and his friends in the car depicts them more like servants and not police officers. On the other hand, if you think about it Kendrick Lamar isn’t actually in control of the car either, the police are. Lamar could do anything he wants, the police officers are the ones in control of the car he’s steering and he can’t do anything to change that. In other words the car is like a coffin and then police officers look like pallbearers. This states how the cops will
YouTube has become the most popular video sharing website. It has variety of functions that enable a virtual organization to operate and have different kinds of virtuality impact. To compare with the other similar enablers, it has strengths and weaknesses.Advertising and marketing is the most significant one. You also can gain different technology impact from it. From the Web Reviews, we can see there are a lot of merits of YouTube. However, the copyright infringement is still the important problem of it.
