VARK is an acronym for: Visual, Aural, Read/Write and Kinesthetic. These are the four different types of learning styles. Visual learn by watching and seeing the subject of which are being taught in this category my score was SEVEN. As, aural learn by listening and speaking the subject mostly associated with their ears my score was SIX. Read/Write learn by displays of the words meaning they could rewrite their notes over a thousand times and understand the subject fully my score was also SIX. Lastly, kinesthetic people learn by various movement with their hands, body language, and/or videos my score was 12.

According to the site educationplanner.org there is three major categories for learning styles, which is auditory, visual and tactile. I had to undergo a 20 question test to see which one of the three is my primary learning style.

My learning style remains to be a tactile-kinesthetic learner. I’ve taken numerous learning style tests before and I always have the same results. This implies that I learn best when physically doing a project or activity. It does not mean that if I write items down I will not remember them, I will. My photographic memory is not off, but, it would stick better if I did projects hands-on. It helps to visualize the points I have read or are hearing about to get a better understanding of its background. I believe that this is true because I would rather to see a demonstration of what I am supposed to do so I can be able to do it by myself later on. It is effective for me when I am studying because I can remember what I saw as opposed to what I heard. From doing the Learning Style Inventory, I learned that I learn better when I write things down and when I have a visual of the information I am learning. For my writing style way of learning, I found I should take notes. When the professors give us notes I should write them in my hand writing. I just need to be able to read my notes because I write so fast some times.

After taking the inventories and looking at the results, I believe the following. I believe that the inventories may not be one hundred percent accurate; however, they may pick up on tendencies that are accurate. Before taking the assessments, I believed that I was a visual and a kinesthetic or hands on learner. I thought that I was a more hands on or kinesthetic learner and I would have thought that visual was my second learning preference. Upon reading the results of the inventories, I found that visual learning may be a stronger learning preference. I believe that these inventories are pretty true to my learning style preferences.

To be an auditory learner I use sounds and have a hard time remembering things if they were not spoken aloud in some way. Furthermore, VARK states that my preferred learning style uses experiences and things that are real. Additionally, I would learn better using my senses, as in field trips, real life examples, or trial and error. I am going to discuss my preferred method of learning, also called a learning style. I believe that people do prefer to learn in a certain manner, but are capable of learning in many styles rather than just the one preferred.
