The results that I received after taking What’s Your Learning Style stated that I’m a visual learning. After seeing the result, I now know how I learn best. As stated on results that I have to picture things in my head and look, and write things done to get the understanding of what I am working on. There are many things that I can do to learn better is make sure that I have more time in doing my homework, because being a visual learning I have to picture, write important things to make sure that I can remember them. I already try to color code things especially when I’m at work because I need to be very organize. What I can add to the suggestions is that the more that I write then the more that I will remember, because I know that I have to
VARK is an acronym for: Visual, Aural, Read/Write and Kinesthetic. These are the four different types of learning styles. Visual learn by watching and seeing the subject of which are being taught in this category my score was SEVEN. As, aural learn by listening and speaking the subject mostly associated with their ears my score was SIX. After completing the Discovery Wheel and the Learning Style Inventory assignments which are presented by the text book Becoming a Master Student (Ellis, 2006, pp. 78-82), I discovered that I should trust my instinct now more than ever. I’ve always felt most confident when I had a chance to implement my knowledge and understanding in a lab or a real life setting. I learned that facts, figures, and examples are important parts in the way I learn. Breaking something down into smaller units and examining these units individually is something I enjoy doing, but that is not my preferred learning style.
According to VARK, my learning style is Kinesthetic. As a matter of fact, Kinesthetic learning style is a learning style in which I learn best with direct involvement. Furthermore, VARK states that my preferred learning style uses experiences and things that are real. Additionally, I would learn better using my senses, as in field trips, real life examples, or trial and error. Not to mention, one Houston College article states that I should make things with my studies for recall. Another suggestion, is that I write my answers down or prepare index cards.
From doing the Learning Style Inventory, I learned that I learn better when I write things down and when I have a visual of the information I am learning. For my writing style way of learning, I found I should take notes. When the professors give us notes I should write them in my hand writing. I just need to be able to read my notes because I write so fast some times.
I am a mixed learner and surprised about it too, my scores on the test were 50% auditory, 10% visual, and 40% tactile. To be an auditory learner I use sounds and have a hard time remembering things if they were not spoken aloud in some way. I am a talker that sings and hums to myself when I get bored or nervous, though I am paying attention or understanding what is being said, it does not seems as I am. There are many ways in helping bring out my learning style. These include sitting where I can hear, read out loud and have things read out loud to me such as tests and questions I do not understand or use flashcards to practice new words or the questions, also being read aloud. Being
From an early age I found learning hard and in my early educational years I
What is a learning style? Well a learning style is the way a person tends to learn best. It involves your preferred method of taking in, organizing, and making sense of information, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (2012). Some people prefer to learn by doing and touching, others prefer to learn by seeing, or by hearing the information. Still others learn using more than one learning style. If a person was interested in finding out what their particular learning style is would be to take the VARK questionnaire for learning styles. The most common learning style is the multimodal, but the learner
Describe your preferred learning style according to the results of the self-assessment. Discuss all four dimensions.
Learning is obtaining skills through knowledge, study, or by teaching. Learning styles refers to a system of collecting, processing, interpreting, arranging and thinking about information. Self-Expressive learners rely on intuition as a mode of perception and feeling as a means of judgment or decision making. The intuition of Self-Expressive learners uses hunch, guessing, and insight to organize the world into shifting patterns of possibility. Meanwhile, their feeling function applies association, memory, and emotion to the task of turning these patterns into concrete images they can
This paper will identify which of the Kolb learning styles best suits me and why I think so. It will also give some examples from my past and present to support these findings. After determining, the learning styles that best fit me and completing an inventory exercise, I have concluded that I learn best using audio and visual techniques in the learning process. I agree with everything this exercise has brought to light. I never knew that these styles were the meaning by which I learned. I have also included examples as to how I see the use and benefits of these learning styles in my career.
Personal learning styles are highly complex and unique to specific individuals. It is often difficult to pinpoint an exact learning style. Though there are different categories, we often fine tune them to our own abilities. By examining our traits and tendencies we create a clearer understanding of how we process and learn information. With careful review, I have developed a specific analysis of my learning characteristics, including an evaluation of skill levels. Based on what I have recently learned and know from experience, I have also devised a structured plan for improvement of time management and study skills.
I am going to discuss my preferred method of learning, also called a learning style. I believe that people do prefer to learn in a certain manner, but are capable of learning in many styles rather than just the one preferred. I used two different websites answering numerous questions, which gave me some results showing which learning style I preferred. For the most part I agreed with the outcome, but found some interesting, and contradicting information.
