It’s amazing how, as children, we practice concepts that allow businesses and organizations to flourish while playing, not realizing that it’s preparing us for the future. Remember the days on the school playground, during recess, when we would play team games like red rover, capture the flag, and dodge ball? Before the games started, we had to select two team captains and they would choose the teams. If you were ever lucky to be selected as one of the team captains, you would always choose the fastest, the strongest, or the biggest kid, or your best friend. “Training is not only necessary to keep the skill of the creative person current; it also contributes to your company’s needs and goals.” (Butteriss, M. 1999). Organizations want to keep their teams on top of their games, keeping them up to date on the newest methods and practices when it comes to the skills required to complete projects in a timely and costly fashion, this means training. Agile utilize training as a team building practice, getting to know members of your team promotes cohesiveness. It is used to develop a strong bond amongst the team which aids in a healthier and more productive work environment. Traditional methodology utilizes training as a growth motivator, team members want to learn more about different knowledge areas so they would pair up with people from different teams and learn as much as they can within the allotted time. Traditional methodology also send teams or team members to training as a means of correcting poor quality work.
