Viterbo University Scholarship Essay
When I was fifteen years old, I remember watching the hospice nurses care for my grandpa. They moved carefully, administering medications, turning grandpa as needed, and making sure everything was as it should be. It struck me that the nurses were not only caring for the patient, but they also cared for the family. They had this strength that set them apart from everyone else in the room. They gave hope and comfort to my family and made my grandpa’s care priority. I believe that assisting people to regain their strength and health is fulfilling and meaningful. The high school and PSEO courses I’ve taken so far have given me a head start towards pursuing a nursing or pre-medical degree. To excel in the nursing program, I plan to take a certified nursing assistant course next summer. Moving forward I am very interested in learning more about how the human body works and how to care for people with different conditions. I look forward to continuing my education as a nursing student. These potential scholarships will greatly benefit me because they will help me focus on my nursing career as opposed to student loans. Removing the financial burden of college will allow me to save money to further my education and to take away the stress that comes from debt. These potential scholarships can help relieve the struggle of balancing work and school. With fewer student loans, I can focus on studying to get my degree and not as much on paying it off. The financial benefit, however, is not as important as the result. Graduating with a degree in nursing will not only help me but help all the people under my care.
