Thesis: In Vitro Fertilization is an acceptable option for Christian couples. Genesis chapter 1 tells us of how God created the universe and everything in it in six days. Days one through five were things such as the world, light, plants and animals. On the sixth day, however, the Bible says that “God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27) Human life is special because we are made in the image of God and we reflect His likeness. Because of this, human life should be considered sacred. After God created man, He blessed Adam and Eve and told them to “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.” (Genesis 1:28) Each generation since then has fulfilled a part of this command every time a woman bears a child. It is one of the most innate desires of a woman to have children and raise them at some point during her life. However, not all women are able to conceive, and while there are many options available to a couple experiencing infertility, some couples choose in vitro fertilization (IVF). Although IVF can be used unethically, it is a viable option for Christian couples. IVF is a process where eggs are collected from the woman and sperm is collected from the man. The eggs and sperm are then mixed together in a laboratory where some or all of the eggs are fertilized. The couple and their doctor then decide how many of the fertilized eggs (embryos) to implant in the woman
