Phi Theta Kappa Honor
Being inducted into National Honors Society requires a student to demonstrate all of the four qualities many of our role models in the present and in the past have possessed, which include: scholarship, service, leadership and character. As I’m considered a candidate for this group, I already possess the quality of scholarship and it is my duty in this paper to show that I hold the other three important attributes needed to qualify for this institution.
As a candidate for membership into the National Honor Society, I already possess the quality of scholarship. I have received First Honors every quarter since Pre-K3 when I first started school, and I earned high average each year. I maintain my high average in school while joining other organizations, and participating in other activities. Also, I have been taking regular and honors courses while in high school. I was also the recipient of the Science Fair Award, the President’s Award, the Excellence Award, and many other academic achievements during my school career. As a junior, I am now a member of the Yearbook Journalism Staff and I look forward to having a successful Yearbook year.

There is no better way to pay for college than by being awarded money for outstanding academic excellence.
I am applying for the Abe Waldauer Scholarship because I have a great need to offset the cost of my

However, when looking at the nation and middle class students as a whole, not everyone is eligible for these. Just a year of average grades can disqualify one from thousands of dollars in merit scholarships. According to College Raptor, an average of $5,750 was awarded to undergraduates as gift aid in the 2012-2013 school year (Wignall). With an annual estimated cost of $24,610 for a public in-state university, this gift aid, along with the $4,000 from grants and other sources, leaves approximately $14,000 in college debt each year — $56,000 after 4 years (“Average Estimated Undergraduate Budget”). These numbers speak for
I demonstrated scholarship by being on Seneca’s Principal's list six out of the eight semesters I have attended so far. The other two semesters I was on the Honor roll. In addition, I finished freshman and sophomore year with a 4.0 GPA. This shows that I am a dedicated student who sees the necessity of having good grades. For service, during the summer of freshman and sophomore
Students are receiving not only scholarships, many are getting free books, housing, tutors, meals, and special doctors and nutritionists. This is way more than what many other students receive. Scholarships are more than enough, with free books and tutors they should have no problem with passing or not doing their work because they have all kinds of help at their fingertips. With free housing they don’t have to pay rent or worry about trying to make ends meet to come up with a rent payment. They are also getting free meals, so if they get three meals a day then that should be plenty.
