Introduction Wal-Mart started as a small firm, with a single discount store and the simple idea of selling more for less. The company has gone a long way from one store to having more than 11,500 stores in 28 countries. Wal-Mart has been a very successful by becoming the largest retail company in the world employing 2.2 million in the World and 1.4 million in United States. This project is about the problems of Wal-Mart as a company with employees and the community at large. The company is known for some issues which include the fact that they hurt local communities which has been an issue for small scale businesses has been having with the firm. There are cases where many small stores have been put out of business because of Wal-Mart which has made local communities and Wal-Mart has unresolved issues. Another problem involves Wal-Mart underpaying their employees; this has also caused an issue with the general public with underpaying staffs being a world wild issue. Lastly, this project also tackles the issue of Wal-Mart not empowering their staff which makes the employees unhappy. This project has a number of recommendations to tackles the issues Wal-Mart faces and has also created. The issue of empowering staffs, underpaying workers and not getting along with local communities can be tackled with the following recommendations which include open communication, rewarding self-improvement and government intervention respectively.
