Walking Dead Persuasive Speech

The book called “Of Good and Ill Repute: Gender and Social Control in Medieval England” is a collection of essays, investigating medieval society. The name of the author of this book is Barbara Hanawalt, who is a specialist in English medieval social history. Hanawalt has received a PhD from the University of Michigan and has made a career of both teaching and writing. In regards to Hanawalt’s book titled “Of Good and Ill Repute: Gender and Social Control in Medieval England”, each chapter explores and discusses different aspects of medieval society in England. Hanawalt discuss a range of material, which she tries to connect and prove her thesis.

During the episode “Hush” from Joss Whedon’s the hit series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Buffy the main character’s hometown Sunnydale is invaded by demons who call themselves The Gentlemen. The Gentlemen come into a town during the late hours of the night and while everyone is asleep they steal the voices of the towns people, and begin to harvest their hearts. This relates to how most politicians come and take over a town and many times the citizens of said town have no say in anything. Similar to The Gentlemen, politicians seem to emerge out of thin air and take control of everything, by doing things their own way and ignoring what their suppose to do as politicians. The Gentlemen as political leaders have to steal the voices of the townspeople in order have complete control.

WWII: It’s Still Here 5/8/17-Utah 72 years ago today, the world celebrated. VE day, victory in Europe, WWII was formally accepted as finished. Parades broke out over the streets, the war was finally over! However, the influence and change it brought was not.

Buffy is Back! We all have that one show that we can relate to, that one show we feel mirrors are lives. For me that show was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I know what you are thinking, "How could that show mirror your life? There is no such thing as monsters or slayers".

I am writing on behalf of myself and fellow students in the Sunland-Tujunga community. I have lived in this community for my entire life, and noticed a consistent problem with in our neighborhoods; the sidewalks. Many streets in the Sunland-Tujunga community have either seriously damaged sidewalks or no sidewalks at all. I live across the street from a school, and have noticed the number of students that are forced to walk in the streets as a result of the lack of sidewalks. Sidewalks are very crucial for the safety and health of out community; therefore, I believe that we need to fix and add more sidewalks.

Let’s face it, as far as cult followings go, you’d struggle to find a more popular “creature” than the humble zombie. Just take a look at the popularity of iconic books, movies, videogames, and shows such as: day of the dead, dawn of the dead, zombie land, world war Z, Resident Evil and of course, the Walking Dead, and you’ll realise that not only are zombies popular (unless there’s one trying to chomp down on your brain that is) but they’ve actually been popular for many decades now, and truthfully that doesn’t look set to change anytime soon. The Walking Dead is a televised American drama series about a group of people trying to survive a zombie apocalypse developed by Frank Darabont. The series stars Andrew Lincoln as sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes, who awakens from a coma after the world yields to a zombie plague (Griffiths, 2011). I am sure that everyone of you have heard about aliens and UFOs. Indeed, we all have heard about the famous case of aliens and UFOs in Roswell, New Mexico. Most people might be interested in the topic of aliens, but I know that the majority of you just think of it as rumours and the existence of them are impossible. Thrift shopping is a way of reusing someone else’s unwanted goods. As I spoke about in an earlier speech about thrifting, I included many locations and ways to thrift, also the benefits to the shopper and the donator. One place in particular was shopping at the local boys and girls club. I personally shop there, keeping my eyes open for a good deal. For example, the pair of jeans that I am wearing today was purchased from this store just a few months ago. I paid only $8.00 for this pair of Lucky Jeans and according to buckle.com, a retailer for lucky jeans the retail price is $99.00 that is a savings to me of $91.00.I am not the type to worry about name brands, but quality usually does cost more. If I can get a quality pair of jeans at a fraction on the price, I am glad to shop at the thrift store. I am thankful to the person that made the donation of the lucky jeans and they can benefit from that donation. According to the IRS webpage, IRS. We live in a century where most all the things are normal in today 's day, or maybe that is the way I see things. I was born in the 90’s, where most of the children didn 't have a cellphone, instead they had bicycles, dirt and not stress at all. There were good times back then. Today we have smart phones, laptops, tablets, and of course we have Netflix, a global provider of streaming movies and TV series. I have to mention that there is one TV show in particular that has captivated my eyes, its name; “The Walking Dead”. Maybe the title of this American horror drama television series sounds a little mysterious and scary, first of all, because the serious shows a world overrun by zombies, but besides that, I have learned a lot from this TV show.
