Lastly, the way America is taken advantage by Walmart is unacceptable. Due to the fact of Walmart’s low prices many local businesses can not afford to keep up with them resulting family owned stores to shut down. Small family owned businesses were better in a community because employees were paid fairly, treated well, and given them proper health insurance. Family owned businesses take years to build up from the ground, many people around get to really know and love the owners, rather than in Walmart which is corporate run and treats employees along with costumers poorly. When news of a new Walmart was heard, many customers their business over there because of the low hard to beat prices. When the lady called attorneys she explained how she started web blog to expose Walmart and how they continue to violate laws. After the case she soon reached a Walmart headquarters person who explained said he had just started job and didn’t know what to say. She had gotten the media involved and they kept running on the story news the owner of the local Walmart saw the story, called regional manager and had all stores put bags undercover and removed them from parking lots. This shows how corrupt the corporation really is, it took a local owner to make a change, they would not do anything if it was not made public. In 2005 Connecticut EPA ordered Walmart to pay 1.15 million for a clean water act violation in twenty two stores. In addition to how poorly the corporation is run, it is sickening to know that in 2005 Lee Scott, the CEO of Walmart, had earnings of 27,207,799 while the average Walmart hourly sales employee earned about 13,861 for the
