Throughout the years Walt Disney Studios has proved to be one of the most successful corporations in Hollywood. Using tent-pole, blockbuster strategy and focusing on big-scale productions with extensive marketing and event-like premieres, Disney Studios has moved from producing solely animation content to live-action, television, consumer products and expended their market without any co-financing. Based on the Alberta Elberse’s case, I will look at the current and future developments of Walt Disney Corporation and propose future projects and marketing ideas.
To begin with, tent-pole strategy seems to work well for this particular company. Based on numerous examples throughout the years (from Cinderella to Star Wars), this strategy should be

With Cinderella, released last year and Beauty and the Beast premiering this future spring, Disney is covering several consumer markets: the generation that has been brought up with the original animations and considers them as classics, and the new generation of kids, drawing their attention to the stories that they know in a new relatable way. As it can be seen from Exhibit 5c of the case, there are several original properties that have not been used yet (19). Although from the first view it seems as if the choice for future live-action developments should go to such properties as Snow White or Little Mermaid, I believe that the most rational and secure decision would be to make a screen adaptation of Aladdin. Released first as an animation in 1992, it was one of the most successful box office hits from Disney (before The Lion King). More than that, Aladdin franchise is already enormous and successful around the world, with an existing television show, two direct-to-video sequels, theatre shows and video games. Given a large promotional campaign, as it has been done with Cinderella in the previous year, this could be a hit (with added exposure through Disney networks (ex. ABC) and focus on merchandise such as toys, video games, costumes). The marketing of this property will also include musical recordings (studio entertainment business segment) as the soundtrack already consists of several recognized musical compositions. More than that, although Disney Studios are far from political issues of the world, the feature film about Middle Eastern (Arabian in particular) culture, which is highly discussed today due to refuge problems, can also use a charitable initiative as it has been done with Star Wars: Force for Change. Based on the further success of the series, Dubai can become the next destination for a new Disney Park,
alt Disney's movie has always been my favorite even at the age I am now. So now you probably wonder, " what does this have anything to do with why I should recommend you to English 101?" Well professor, Walt Disney is the creator of the world's largest animation empire as we all know today, but at first, in 1991 Disney was fired from the Kansas City Star because from their perspective; he lacked imagination and does not provide merit ideas to the team. Moreover, from Albert Einstein to the successful author Stephen King today, many of these influential figures failed many times before they could even reach success. The 19th best- selling author Stephen King had been rejected thirty times before he convinced his publisher to finally publish
Recently, at Universal Studios, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened up. This magical land is based off of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, and includes fun rides, a Hogwarts replica, exciting shops, and even Moaning Myrtle in the bathrooms! This recent success is expected to help some, but hurt others. Disneyland might be seeing a loss of customers, due to this addition to Universal Studios. Disneyland is expected to lose business, but the wonderful land full of fairy tales has started competing for customers. Disneyland has started building a Star Wars themed development, the opening date has not been released yet. Who will win the war for service? Only time will
Characters of Walt Disney Animation Studio movies have become beloved all over the world since releasing its full-length animated feature film Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs in 1937, and all the way to the musical fantasy-adventure film, Moana. Young or children at heart, Disney has hit the hearts of many across the world but is there more behind the classic stories of Cinderella, Belle, and Mulan than first thought. As for the development of Disney female leads, Walt and his animators looked for stories to tell, from fables, fairy tales, legends, to the universal realities that can be found there. As the part of women has lengthened and altered, particularly in the twentieth century and now the twenty-first century, the stories are tending

Our culture is entranced by literary fairy tales originating from as early as the 1600`s. Fairy tales were written not only as a form of entertainment but also to represent the reality of the time by incorporating both enjoyable characters and themes and raw human nature. While the stories of the time reflected oppressive ideal gender roles, the fairy tales remained popular as they captured the attention of young children. To capitalize on this, Walt Disney began adapting the fairy tales into animated movies for children of all age to enjoy. One such film is Cinderella, adapted from Charles Perrault, which was released in 1950.

Disney has become a marketing goliath and the #1 entertainment company in the US. They have been able to develop a creativity-driven philosophy that over time was tempered by financial responsibility and that benefitted from powerful synergies between its divisions. From the very beginning, Disney has been synonymous with innovation within the children’s entertainment industry, from their introduction of animations with synchronized audio, full-length animated feature films and then later into theme parks and on-ice and Broadway shows. One important element of Disney’s success was the extent to which they integrated and expanded into different
Disney has moved well beyond its cartoon-oriented roots. Though the company is still involved the production of original feature films and other related media (and though the media network division of the Company is still the organization’s leading generator of revenue) the company has long since stopped being your typical “animation studio” or “film production company.”
Disney operates in very competitive industries such as media, tourism, parks and resorts, interactive entertainment and others. The competitive landscape changes quite drastically in the media industry, where news and TV go online and new competitors with new business models compete more successfully than incumbent media companies. Disney’s parks and resorts business segment also receives strong competition from local competitors who can offer better-adapted product. This results in growing competitive pressure for Walt Disney Company (Ovidijus Jurevicius).
