Walter Elias Disney is a very famous animator, producer, director, screenwriter, entrepreneur, and voice actor. Walter Disney was born on December 5, 1901 and died on December 15, 1966. This man is very well-known to children from the ages five to sixteen. Every child in America watches Disney Channel on television. The parents to these children know that the shows on Disney Channel were made to entertain children like their own. Disney Channel is only one thing that has Walter Elias Disney's name. Walter Disney was known to be the voice of Mickey Mouse in his cartoons. Walter won many awards in his lifetime for all his hard work. “Disney was sixteen when he dropped out of high school to join the army but was not accepted because of how old he was (Walt Disney Biography).” Walter was a very determined man when it became to the things he wanted. “Walter then joined The Red Cross and was sent to work at the American Ambulance Corp in France (Walt Disney Biography).” In order to work in the Red Cross, he had to lie about his age. He worked there until he didn’t feel like working there anymore. Walter quit and moved back toward home. “Disney then worked at Kansas City Film Ad Company, where he made many commercials based on cutout animation (Walt Elias Disney).” During the time he worked there, he decided that he want to start his own animation business. “From the Kansas City Film Ad Company, he recruited Fred Herman as his first employee (Walt Disney Biography).” From there he tried to build his own company within a company. “In 1920, Disney created and marketed his first animated cartoon. During this process, Walter used a cutout method that used pins to join arms and legs to a torso. He also used another method called “Stop Motion”, where you took a picture of the set, moved the arms and legs a bit, then took another picture and so on (Technology’s Past, 10).” His first cartoon was called Laugh-O-Grams.
