War Based Killing Should Be Regarded As Murder

John runs across the open battlefield while he tries to dodge the shots being fired at him and his men. Afraid and out of breath, he tries to pull himself together and continue fighting for his country. He looks to the left and sees his partner get shot and drop to the ground. While reloading his gun, he notices a group of men running towards him with firearms. He quickly goes into defensive mode and aims towards them. As the men continue yelling and running towards him at full speed, John is trying to keep his eyes open for any other shooters coming towards him. The men are getting closer and closer to him. John is fearful for his life and fires at them. In the blink of an eye, two men go down. While fighting for his country, John failed to notice that these two men, were only innocent civilians that were looking for help. Now, John is facing a charge for murder. Lately, there has been a dispute on whether war-based killing should be regarded as murder. Some people say that it should, because killing is a crime and against the law. Although this is true, the lives lost during wartime are not done out of unmoral acts. They are lost because men and women go out to protect and fight for what they and their country believe in. War based killing should not be considered murder because of self-defense, religion and war ethics. War-based killing should not be regarded as murder because of the principles of self-defense.
