Washington State
Have you ever visited Washington state? I have, in fact, I use to live there. Many great features about Washington to include gems, oysters, tall trees, waterfalls and volcanos. Most of the state is lush and green, that is why it is called the “Evergreen state.” Washington is a very beautiful place filled with many natural resources. The most prevalent of these is timber, but the state is also well known for farming oysters. Beautiful waterfalls and an explosive volcano.
Washington designated petrified wood as the state gem in 1975. Though rock-hard and beautiful, petrified wood is not actually a gem but a fossil. In prehistoric times, the interior of Washington was swampy with trees such as cypress, oak, elm and gingko. Some of these ancient forests were preserved by lava flows and water and over time became fossilized. You can see petrified wood at Gingko Petrified forest state park in Vantage, Washington.

Poverty plagues the entire nation. People assume that the worst of poverty is in the midst of heavily populated areas such as New York or California. What they don’t realize is that poverty rates in Grand Forks are worse than the average poverty rates in the entire nation. And it isn’t just a slight increase, poverty rates in Grand Forks County are 150% worse than the national average. The poverty rates are ridiculous, yet there are only a few articles in the Grand Forks Herald that actually focus on poverty. I researched through the Grand Forks Herald database and came up with less than ten articles in the past 5 years that focused on poverty in the area. That’s a maximum of ten articles in 1,825 days. This report focuses on the effects that

In today’s society, a good quality education is an important and valuable necessity. As a college student at Lone Star College, my college experience has greatly influenced me in an enormous amount of ways. I came into Norwalk Community College looking for a fresh start. I previously attended a 4 year university that became too much for me; attending school full-time, working 30 hours per week while trying to enjoy the college experience. At the cost of an “experience” I ended up failing most of my classes, putting my health at risk drowned by the tremendous amount of stress and just wanted to completely give up. Looking for a fresh start I decided to leave my University, and attend Norwalk Community College. Though this decision created self-doubt in the beginning, it soon came to my realization that it was the best decision I ever made. Immersed in an environment full of positive people, I was able to put my pieces back together.

You shoot up from your warm bed. You rub the sleep from your eyes and glance at the clock, which strikes 6:10. It seems as though your heart skips a beat. The cozy blankets try to keep you enthralled in their warm grasp as you jump from their reach. The bus to Buffalo leaves in twenty minutes and you should’ve woken up an hour ago. You frantically toss on your oversized sweatshirt and leggings and race to the kitchen, in hope that you have time to sneak a quick bite to eat. As you run in, you see that your mother has made you two slices of toast, crisp and crunchy, spread with a thick layer of creamy, melted butter. While running around the house, munching on the perfectly toasted bread, you quick grab your swimsuit and bag, which

The city of Arizona that my family and I live in is Scottsdale. The absolute location of Arizona is 34.0000° N, 112.0000° W, and the relative location of Arizona is at the border of Mexico between New Mexico and California. Absolute location is the exact spot on the earth expressed by a coordinate system.
You may be looking for the perfect spot for a summer vacation for your family. If so, Arkansas has fifty-two state parks that offer a variety of recreation and entertainment options. These state parks play a vital role in the historical education of our great state. A few of the options include; visiting a prehistoric Indian mound, digging for diamonds, viewing Civil War battle grounds, or just enjoying the many great outdoor adventures. Although there are many options, one of my favorite places to visit has always been Old Washington Historic State Park.
