Washington State

Have you ever visited Washington state? I have, in fact, I use to live there. Many great features about Washington to include gems, oysters, tall trees, waterfalls and volcanos. Most of the state is lush and green, that is why it is called the “Evergreen state.” Washington is a very beautiful place filled with many natural resources. The most prevalent of these is timber, but the state is also well known for farming oysters. Beautiful waterfalls and an explosive volcano.

Washington designated petrified wood as the state gem in 1975. Though rock-hard and beautiful, petrified wood is not actually a gem but a fossil. In prehistoric times, the interior of Washington was swampy with trees such as cypress, oak, elm and gingko. Some of these ancient forests were preserved by lava flows and water and over time became fossilized.
