Located in Northern California, near Palo Alto, Stanford University is a medium sized, private university with 16,000 students. It is often referred to as the “Ivy League of the West.” As the most selective college in the United States, Stanford accepts only 4.8% of the approximately 44,000 applicants, carefully selecting applicants that have the potential to be leaders in the future. Leaders such as John F. Kennedy (US President), Larry Page & Sergey Brin (co-founders of Google), and Elon Musk (Entrepreneur - best known for Tesla motors) are well known alumni of Stanford who have become extremely successful in their respective fields. When applying to Stanford one should consider the admissions criteria, tuition, and academic majors. Also, it is important to have academic support, understand the college’s demographics, and familiarize oneself with campus life.

Nathan’s thesis is simply centered around diversities and interracial groups in universities. She points out that although colleges preach the acceptance of all different kinds of groups and cultural mix, it is not the real case that goes about campus. Even in school, different cultures and races tend to conform to each other than to form interracial social groups.

It is with pride and humility that I have chosen Suny Empire State College as the institution to pursue my studies. This college affords me the opportunity of enrolling without the standard entry test, which is a requirement of most traditional colleges. It also allows me to tailor my studies in the area of Emergency Management. Suny Empire State College will makes it easier for me as a student to study and work due to the constraints of my schedule. A conversation needs to be had regarding the effects of diversity. Diversity in practical terms is the inclusion of people from different walks of life whether it be color, race, or heritage. This topic is one that is sensitive for many people because of the history attached to this subject. In the past decade there has been instances where the supreme court has had to address the topic of “Diversity” to justify this ongoing debate. Like in the supreme court, college campuses have also discussed diversity in their college for a multitude of reasons. Additionally, they too have found many reoccurring problems relating to diversity, which will be addressed in this paper.

Ashford University is a instituion that holds itself with great prestige and respect. While attending I'll be able to advance my knowledge of teaching and children’s emotional, social, and physical needs to better help them grow. I feel it will push my career and academic goals in the right direction aswell as push my limits academically.

Methodist University was one of my top five schools when I started to apply for school. There were three important aspects to why I chose to attend Methodist University. The most important part aspect of going to Methodist was the education part, along side with the men’s lacrosse program and my girlfriend.

I always have enjoyed learning Mathematics and have been fascinated by Business. This interest has led me to pursue my future study and career in the field of Business Analytics. I’ve always been interested in the field of medicine. When I was being born, I almost died, being saved only by the ingenuity of a Nurse Day for whom my middle name is dedicated to. Above all else, I want to have an impact on the quality of life for others, and I think the University of Pennsylvania is one of, if not the, best ways to do that. Its bioengineering department is consistently ranked to be the most rigorous in the field, and I can handle rigor.

Ever since I can remember I have had an intense curiosity about the world and the people in it. This is probably due mostly to my parents who read to me nonstop but it has fuelled most of my learning experiences and given me a love of the world and of people, and the understanding of both of those. This love was further developed when I began four years of learning Attic Greek and Latin through a classical education. Then, after yearning to go overseas since I was eight years old and saving for it most of the time since then, I made it to England for six weeks this summer. As a member of several clubs and organizations, I have always valued the wide range of people you can find within the walls of my high school. If you walk into my Physics lab, you will find me collaborating with a dancer strongly involved in his cultural heritage and a volleyball player in the engineering academy. If you come to my Calculus class, you will see me calculating derivatives with a football player, a snowboarder, a National Honor Society officer, and a painter. The word “diversity” is often used to describe a cross-cultural population, but it is so much more than that. At Bartlett High School, students originate from hundreds of different cultures, with an abundance interests, and participate together in an assortment of activities.

I have come to realize that diversity allows students to polish one another, leading to the depolarization of students and thus more rounded individuals. I have traveled a rather non-traditional path, and feel strongly that I can benefit others and feel just as strongly that I can benefit from them. The challenges I have faced, the community where I grew up, and my work experience all contribute to my individuality.

Since the time when I was little, my parents always encourage me to do the best, work hard, become educated and have a positive life style at a very young age. My earliest memories are that of reading interesting books because I love to read and do my science whiz experiments. However, I also had great interests in playing with Lego pieces and conducting fun chemistry games in my own tiny lab. It was a fun time for me; at least that’s how I recall it now. The only things I had to worry about were: what will I have for lunch today, which chemistry game or Lego pieces do I want to play with and my team winning the sports games I use to compete in.

The world is filled different cultures, races and ethnicities, and it is crucial that our higher education institutions reflect this diversity. Representation matters. We are a country filled with diverse cultures all of which whom need to be represented. The purpose of this literature review is to explain why and how diversity in a higher education setting is important. Students learn better in such an environment and are better prepared to become active participants in our pluralistic, democratic society once they leave school Diversity is not only important among the student population but also within college curriculum. If someone asked me where I am going to be in ten years, this would be my answer. I will have a great, high-paying job, and beautiful wife and family, and a nice sports car parked in front of my lovely house. When I look into the future, I see myself being successful and happy. Even though I always pictured myself this way, I never worried too much about how I would get there. I feel the Suffolk University can lay the groundwork for making these dreams into reality.
