1. In the beginning my parents thought that we, as a community do not do enough of waste management and recycling. We keep putting things in the wrong bin even though people may know the correct bin for the waste. For example, vegetable scraps should be put into the green bin so it is converted into mulch, but people usually put them in the blue bin for convenience. They also believed that the important thing about recycling is that packaging should be reduced on new products. Companies package things wastefully and cause large amounts of waste. For instance, everything comes in packaging and often items have many different materials as protection for the product that are not needed. My parents knew which bin to put each waste item in and where those bins go once they are emptied and taken away. They also knew recycling is important because we are wasting too many resources and materials; then just dumping it when we could be reusing it.
My parents both did a reasonable amount of recycling and waste management in the beginning as they washed out cans and cartons to take them to a bottle and cans recycle depot. Plastic containers, other plastics and papers were recycled and vegetable waste was put into compost.
Compared to me, my parents were not taught anything about waste management or recycling and it was not even considered. Everything went to landfill, including cars and appliances, it was all buried and no parts were recycled. Everything that went into this
Everyone has been told to do this, but I don’t think everyone sees the importance of recycling. Sure, a lot of people recycle, but there are a lot that don’t. Recycling has many benefits, but the major benefit is less destruction of forests. Again, the rising population calls for many products that are made from trees, mainly paper. Everybody in the world uses paper, whether it be in the form of books, pencils, toilet paper, towels, and even shoes. All these paper products, and more, are a direct result of deforestation, for the trees are taken down and turned into these products. Say you have a whole box of school papers that you don’t need anymore, and you want to throw them in the trash. Instead of throwing it in the trash, you should recycle it. When you recycle it, the paper goes to a factory, which adds other products to it, melts it down, and molds it into other products. This process can eventually rule out the need for deforestation, reducing the effects of climate change. Clearly, recycling is one of the many sustainable solutions that can hopefully stop
Recycling is the process of making new products from a product that has originally served its purpose. The process of recycling starts when used products are disposed in an appropriate, environmentally friendly way. Items made from materials such as paper, tin cans, aluminum cans, plastic water bottles, and glass, which people use in everyday life, can be separated from regular trash and put in an appropriate recycling bin. The United States now realizes the importance of recycling. However, many ignorant people still think separating recyclables requires too much work. Requiring mandatory recycling would prod these individuals into action. Lack of recycling leads to dramatic consequences such as polluting the environment and raising the number of landfills. Delay is critical; time plays a significant role in waste management. The sooner American communities recycle properly the better it will be for the environment and our surroundings. People need to become conscious and take responsibility as a society to protect the earth, keep it clean and beautiful, and preserve the natural resources. The United States can achieve this goal by implementing mandatory recycling.
Recycling is presently one of the most controversial topics, considering that while most individuals put across their support regarding the act the number of individuals who actually do something in order to recycle is much smaller. Many people are currently unable or unwilling to recycle properly because the process often requires a series of changes in one's life. It is thus essential for the authorities to provide educational programs meant to assist individuals in understanding why recycling is important and in learning how to recycle effectively. People need to accept the fact that the benefits of recycling will reflect on the future and that conditions are currently critical as a result of the fact that the masses are generally unacquainted with the importance of this process.
Recycling is one of the most common ways to keep America clean. The recycling bins are one of the most recognizable logos across the world. People all across the U.S. have recycling bins, inside of their household. The sad thing is most people do not use them, they most of the time just throw stuff in the regular trash that could be recycled. For example, plastic, paper, cans, glass, cardboard, and even computer hardware (www.recycleacrossamerica.org). People don’t realize that they could be doing the world a big favor, just by recycling these everyday items.
1) Are you aware of the amount of waste you create each day? I do not believe anyone is completely aware of the amount of waste they generate on a daily basis. It is such a natural action – throw something in the trash – that it is automatic and done without much or any consideration as to where it goes, where it came from, or where will it ultimately go or become. I do recycle and compost when possible, but that too becomes a process that sometime appears moot because products are being made from materials that do not qualify or require special centers for recycling.1 We have become a “use it and throw it away” society.
The reasons why we need recycling at school and the area is because with recycling it can make so many things out of bottles or cans even milk cartons too. These resources can make cars buses and houses, trash can make that . The recycling area makes a lot of things and you might think it’s gross but it’s better then putting it in the ground of the earth. You think it is no difference with no recycling but there is and it’s with pollution, all the trash put in the ground it’s still littering and littering makes pollution you probably already know.
I recycle everything that I can recycle in my area, compost and waste that I can compost, and do not replace products until necessary. I believe that I produce much less solid waste than the average U.S. citizen but there is more that I can do. Some research suggests that in the U.S. recycling has become a normal routine behavior and that just because a person recycles does not mean that they are environmentally friendly consumers (Ebreo 1999). When looking at this from the solid waste management aspect, a large proportion of people are recycling but are not seeking out items with less packaging and other ways to reduce solid
People Need to Recycle In the United Sates, where the population is inflated every year. The amount of space for landfills decreases every day. The need for recycling should not be asked, it should just be done out of habit. Everyone in America needs to recycle, to help the lamdfill problem, help the environment, and help produce new products from recycled goods. In America there is about two-hundred and eight tons of residential and commercial trash generated a year, 4.3 pounds per person a day (Prichard 1A). This is an overwhelming amount of trashed produced yearly. When people recycle this number can be drastically cut. But many people do not practice and use
I grew up in a small, three person home in Chicago, Illinois. Besides occasionally recycling a glass bottle, as per our maintenance provider’s request, we did not recycle our waste. In fact it was not until I moved on campus at Bradley University, that I realized how important recycling was to some. Actually, one of my best friends here at Bradley is responsible for helping me realize the significance of recycling. This is still not to be confused with your average recycling advocate argument. I admittedly walk pass the blue bin and opt for the easy way out every chance I get. Which is why I plan on figuring out why some people choose not to recycle, like myself, while others choose to recycle. More importantly, I would like to figure out if and how waste affects our environment. Afterwards, I want to explore ways to move closer to a less wasteful society. Lastly, we must figure out how you, and the rest of our future educators at Bradley University, can help.
The first step in becoming part of the recycling solution is to break bad habits by establishing new ones. Priority number one is set rigid criteria for what you recycle. The best suggestion is everything. When you begin to thing this is okay, or that doesn’t item doesn’t really matter, you allow yourself the leeway of being lax.
Everyone has something to say about recycling, starting with all the benefit to all the negative issues that have been brought up by many different people, humanity needs to come together and focus on
Recycling helps prolong the life and usefulness of something that has already served its original purpose by making something that is useable. Recycling has a lot of benefits and is importance not only to us humans but especially to our planet. In order to change my behavior so I could be a good steward of the earth I can do implement the following behaviors. First Separate the trash from the recylibles at home, buy products that can be recycled and have been made out of recycled materials, and composting by using kitchen waste such as plant trimmings and leftover food in the garden as
Household waste recycling: An analysis of students and pensioners attitudes towards recycling and how their views affect the environment.
Hopefully then you can begin to imagine the extent of this problem. So just recycle cause you dont want o have a landfill start piling up to your back yard do you? save the hassle, save the space because recycling saves natural resources, reduces land pollution and also air pollution as many products require more energy to produce them than to recycle them. We need to save animal habitats because animals can't survive without food, shelter
