Throughout history tattooing has served many purposes. The earliest evidence of tattooing was found in 1991 in the mountains of Austria. Tribal tattoos are most likely the most popular tattoo designs these days. These tattoos among their dark colors plus distinctive patterns create spectacular body artwork intended for both for men and women. These designs are geometrical with aggressive decorative lines that contain toothed sides. They are generally etched in shades of bold colors like black as well as blue. Tribal tattoos are unique in general and the artwork do not depict any explicit object. These patterns are simply curvy creative examples of inked artwork.

Tattoos have been a part of history for many years, but for some people it is a traditional and cultural thing. For Maoris and Polynesians, tattoos have been a religious, tradition, and cultural thing to have as growing up in the tribes. Maoris have a traditional tattooing known as Ta Moko, which is often on the face. Polynesians have many types of tattooing, but there’s one which is popular in the Polynesian culture and it’s called Tahitian Tatau. The Maoris and Polynesians have different shapes, and symbols in their tattoos which symbolize a different meaning. Each of these shapes and symbols best describes one’s history and culture.

Doing my senior project I found out that just doodling a Tattoo is difficult because you wouldn’t want it to be flat or too simple, so you have to really but in detail and attempt to put in depth to help your piece come to life even before it’s on skin, What I did was I put in a different color where the bottom area of the tentacle is and tried to do highlighting with some silver to give more depth. My mentor assisted me with ideas also with her Tattoo in general.
