Throughout the week of January 9-13, Mrs. Thompson’s Language Arts classes conducted a Kindness Experiment. Students were asked to complete kind gestures and encourage recipients to pay them forward. This task created a kindness chain that is still going on today. Students and teachers are passing the torch of kindness and doing amazing things. This proves that kindness is contagious! Mark Twain one announced, “Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” This quote exemplifies the fact that no matter what, it means so much to just be kind. Considering you never know what is entering another person’s household, kindness is a key to success in not only your only life but millions of others. No matter what, everyone …show more content…
Usually, the nurses help out the patients. Well, in this experiment, the patients and friends bought all the nurses gifts of appreciation for all they do. This occurred in many hospitals in the United States in May of 2016. They did this to thank the nurses for saving lives every single day. The article writes, “It was just amazing.” This shows how appreciative the nurses really are. Another astonishing article of kindness is, “Pregnant Server Gets A $900 Tip Just In Time For Christmas.” In this article, a waitress receives a $900 tip working at the Pita Jungle in Arizona. Just before the holidays, Sarah Clark received a massive tip on her bill as a waitress. Clark spoke, “It’s a huge, huge help for me and my family.” This shows how kindness help and really pays off. It is wonderful to help others in need instead of yourself. Start the ripple of kindness. About a month ago, I marched on over to Toms River, New Jersey on a mission. I was on a mission to help my grandmother who is disabled in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. What I did was I cleaned her house, made her bed, and much more. In fact, I did pretty much everything for this special person I love. My grandma is a big piece of my heart and she is the woman who inspires me to keep moving on in everyday of my life. My grandmother quoted the work as, “unbelievable” and
George Saunders and David Foster Wallace mention the importance of being kind to one another and the steps necessary in graduation speeches. Both writers state that acting in kindness, ultimately leads to new freedoms and creates an enlightened human being.
The short story"Aha Moment" by Julia Alvarez demonstrates that the point is not to pay back kindness but to pass it on. The story expresses the idea that simple acts of kindness can make a great impact on people both mentally and physically. It can turn frightening and tense situations into assurance and aplomb. In paragraph 8, it is stated," no one screamed,no one panicked. I could hear small pockets of soothing conversation everywhere." By holding the hands and by chatting about everyday life, the passengers emboldened each other and created an optimistic atmosphere. The author points out,"someone was comforting me and kept asking me,'Are you okay?" According to Julia if someone does something good and beneficial for you, you should pass
Do you think that nurses get the credit that they deserve? “A Tribute to Nurses” is a speech about Carolyn’s experience going around the world and seeing what amazing outcomes have came about because of nurses. These stories are very inspirational. They show just what triumphs and tribulations that these selfless nurses go through and continue to go through in order to help the people in need around them. The TED talk “A Tribute to Nurses,” made by Carolyn Jones, strongly presented pathos appeals and also includes ethos and logos appeals to support her speech about how nurses deserve so much more gratitude than they receive.
Kindness comes in different forms, that can alter someone's day instantly. In “Enrique's Journey”, he witnesses kindness from several people in his time of ultimate weakness. Kindness in my life may not be that extreme, but it is appreciated. Even though giant acts of kindness aren't as prevalent as
Integrity it is not just performing an act of kindness, but the morals you stand behind when you do do the act. The level of honesty, the willingness to do what is right and moral commitments all these add up to equal the level of integrity you hold yourself to. I do not think I have performed, the level of integrity that this quote is talking about, but I have
We brought this project to the attention of our peers by creating flyers, posters, and a morning announcement (see appendix D). We requested that the student body would bring in items relevant to the hot chocolate kits. Once the items were collected we had our FBLA chapter assemble each of the individual items into a kit for each nurse to enjoy (see appendix A). Two days before Christmas, our group members delivered the kits to Banner Health Medical Center of which the entirety of nurses and staff were incredibly grateful (see appendix B). Facilitating the collection drive and assembling the hot chocolate kits signifies gratitude toward those who serve continuously and contribute to the the development of a more unified Eaton High School student body. Demonstrating appreciation toward nurses and medical staff via Christmas gift bags proves to these individuals that their work is important, and people value the constant care they provide. Those attending Eaton High school came together to support a common cause and made a close-knit community even closer. Overall, this project denoted the importance of thanking those that sacrifice for a greater good. “Christmas Treats for Those Who Treat” raised awareness for the dedication of nurses and the time with family they relinquish in order to serve
Kindness and peace of mind is easier than most people think it is. There various ways to be happy and to be kind but why does it matter. In the 2005 Kenyon College Commencement Speech by David Foster Wallace, David Foster tries to make his audience to realize that the most obvious facts about life are generally right in front of our faces. David Foster gives his audience an ironic story about two fish swimming by until another fish comes up and says "Morning boys, how's the water?" It isn't after a while that they stop and ask themselves, "what the heck is water". The purpose of the funny ironic story introduced to the audience is to make sure the students sometimes realize the most obvious facts of life.
don't go around the world saying the world owes you.The world owes you nothing it was here first. This means that people can't go around the world saying that they owe you insted you should say what do i owe you.Mark Twain ideas on human nature onclude how he feels about people and how he says"if you tell the truth, you don't have to remeber anythin"
One of these lessons is that you should do an act of kindness, no matter how small it is. One of these examples is a poem that says “First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out Because I was not a socialist. Then they came
People often perceive kindness in different ways, some think of the smaller things and some the larger. Acts of kindness are like wonders of the world they make it a better place. For example mountains some see this grand rock that the sun reflects off of in the morning and others see a glorified piece of rock. Smaller acts of kindness are just as important as bigger ones. Usually when one thinks of the word kindness some act or person comes into mind and my person is Leticia Chavez a.k.a Ducky.
Have you ever heard the golden rule. Well if you haven't it is to treat others the way you want to be treated. If everyone is treated fairly everyone's life will be granted with happiness and success. Both authors in the short story “All summer in A Day” by Ray Bradbury, and the picture “The Lonely Little Duck” express the same theme-- treat others the way you want to be treated Treating others the way you want to be treated really means that if you are kind to people you should expect kind things back, but if you are hurtful to people you might get hurt back.
In the short story “circle” by Jennifer Taylor, the theme that kindness is like a gift in the way that it is easy to receive, but you have to have some heart to give it, is revealed though the character’s actions, a significant passage and the title of the story. In “Circle,” and elderly woman is in need of help and is assisted by a kind deed from a man. Seeing the heart he had, she returns the favor to a pregnant and suffering waitress. Throughout the story, the main character’s actions, a significant passage, and the title of the story all contribute to conveying the theme that that you choose whether or not to give the gift of kindness.
This week’s reading topic is about nice things. In The Washington Post article: “ ‘Hello Rafael, would you like to sit with me today.’ A child’s simple- and timely-gift.”, it mentions a beautiful and kind gesture that a fifth grader in a California elementary school did to her new classmate who does not know any English. The mother of the girl believes that it should be “human nature to reach out”, Kimber Kinard stated to an interview. Kimber is very proud of her daughter, Amanda Moore to reach out to her classmate, Rafael.
Some of the more popular nurse gifts include t-shirts or other clothing with sayings on them about
Treating others with kindness benefits everyone involved. For example, in the story “Angel in Disguise”, the author states "We'll keep her a day or two longer; she is so weak and helpless," said Mrs. Joe Thompson…” She was starting to open up to Maggie and realize that she loves her as if she were her own child. This helps lift Mrs. Thompson’s sprits and shows her that she can feel feelings. This shows how being kind to Maggie made her a more loving person in the end. Additionally, in the article, “Teaching Kindness,” the author states that “As minds and bodies grow, it’s abundantly clear that children require a healthy dose of the warm-and-fuzzies to thrive as healthy, happy, well-rounded individuals.” This is proof that children need kindness
