Task 1: Describe the web architecture and web components which allow the Internet and websites to function
An ISP is an internet service provider. This means that it is a company that provide internet access for a monthly fee of around £30-£50 depending on the package that you buy from them. Some ISP’s also block bad websites from your access like the pirate bay. This service is usually provided by a cable that comes into your house. Some examples of internet service providers are Virgin, BT and Talk Talk.
Web hosting services are companies that will host your website so that other people on the internet could access it. This service is provided by the company giving you some space of their server usually for a fee. If your website is large you could buy more server space from the web hosting service to cater to your websites
A web server is a PC that opens pages on a browser on request. It sends the web address of the page that has been requested to the web browser. They have an IP address and possibly domains and are essential for an ecommerce because ecommerce is online and a web server is what you need to surf the web.
Internet service providers – a service provider (SP) is a company that provides organisations, education, communications, storage, processing, and many other
The role of a web host is that they rent out space available on there servers by doing this this allows files to be connected to the internet they will only give you a set amount of space for a set fee this is used by thousands of people as it is not always possible to buy a server that can cost thousands of pounds
A web hosting company allows business big and small, also individuals to make their websites accessible on the internet over the WWW (World Wide Web) hosting companies provide space on a server, this can be rented space or the actual server itself can be owned by the client. Everything that is stored at a data centre sits on a server, a server is basically a powerful pc that is capable of storing different data, or websites, that are then accessible through the network of the internet.
The Internet is a worldwide communications system that allows millions of computers to exchange information.
ISP which is short for internet service provider is basically term which is used to define a company that provides a range of internet services including personal and business access to the Internet. The service provider will always give you a modem a username and password unique to the user and the user are usually charged for this monthly. There are many internet services provides and Examples of these providers include BT, virginmedia, sky ect.
“The Internet has had an enormous impact on system architecture.” (Rosenblatt, 2013, p.417). The reward of selecting an Internet-based architecture has the benefit of being able to assist the users with daily business transactions in an environment that is online. “The shift to Internet-based collaboration has been so powerful and compelling that it has been named Web 2.0. Web 2.0 envisions a second generation of the Web that will enable people to collaborate, interact, and share information more dynamically.” (Rosenblatt, 2013, p.419). Also, with the Internet-based architecture, the whole system is on the web server, eliminating the need for a server/system. “In an Internet-based architecture, in addition to data and application
ISDN was the advanced version of a dial up connection. For example dial up had an average speed of 56 Kbps but ISDN had more than double that speed and could be as quick as 128 Kbps. This was the first method for extremely quick access to the web inside your own home. Some say that ISDN was the start to the main methods we use now to connect to the web (Broadband and DSL). This was a big step into making the internet popular and into what we have today.
Also known as an ISP, these are companies that provide the user their connection to the internet. There is a monthly charge for this service and the user is sometimes required to purchase other services as well such as a phone line and TV service. You also usually receive a modem with your package to allow you to connect to the internet.
Internet service providers are organisations that provide internet connections to people using connected devices (smartphones, laptops etc.). These organisations usually charge a fee to be able to access the worldwide web. Internet service providers are most commonly connected using a phone line (dial up) or broadband connection. ISPs often provide users with subsidiary services such as e-mail accounts web browsers or even web security. In
The Internet is the largest global computer network. First developed in the early 1960’s, a computer network is designed to support the sharing of digital information and data between individual computers (Mowery & Simcoe, 2002). The Internet is connected through a global series of servers that act as a “repository for information files” (December, 2006). When an individual accesses the Internet, a request is made to a server that then retrieves the relevant data and information. To allow for computers to send and receive information across the Internet, a series of protocols must be used. These protocols are known as the TCP/IP protocols (Transmission Control Protocols and Internet Protocols), they define how data is exchanged on the Internet (December, 2006). The Internet has developed to also provide infrastructure for applications such as email, file sharing and the World Wide Web.
To identify web-site designs that work, and to identify the reasons to why they work.
Website optimisation plays an important role in web development and maintenance. In this article, we look at some basic website optimisation tricks one can use to help increase a site’s search engine ranking and increasing the traffic.
Well-known communications protocols are Ethernet, a hardware and Link standard that is ubiquitous in local area networks, and the Internet Protocol Suite, which defines a set of protocols for internetworking, i.e. for data communication between multiple networks, as well as host-to-host data transfer, and application-specific data transmission formats.
Internet Service Providers (ISPs) is a term that refers to one of the many companies that provide your basic Internet services, including personal or business access to the Internet. For a monthly fee, the service provider usually provides a software package, username, password and access phone number. They will usually give you a basic modem, so you can then log on to the Internet and then browse the World Wide Web.
