Weed Instrument 602, 612, and 615 series Platinum Resistance pressure transmitters(RTD)

Weed Instrument Model 602, 612 and 615 Series Platinum RTDs are Spring Loaded Temperature
Sensors constructed for a large range of nuclear applications. These sensors are built to be used in a thermowell or protection tube. With spring loading action this insures suitable connection with the tip of the thermowell or protection tube for full heat transfer. The Model 615 is built for deliberate applications where a spring loaded threaded l/2" NPT male fitting is required. The Models 602, 612 and 615 have all been tested seismically and environmentally meeting IEEE standards, licensing them for use as '1E ' equipment for nuclear Power Generating Stations

RTDs are thermal devices encompassing a resistance element which is referred to as being a sensing element. The resistance of the sensing element fluctuates with temperature, and by calculating the resistance, one can therefore indirectly determine the temperature. Today, the sensing components of nearly all RTDs are made of fine platinum wire, and are often coiled around a support assembly referred to as a mandrel. Four wires, identified as the RTD extension leads, are connected to the two ends of the platinum element. In RTDs that have four extension leads (four-wire RTD), the two additional wires allow measurement of the resistance of the lead wires and then subtract that resistance from the loop resistance to acquire the resistance…
