This paper analyzes the case study of Valley Community College (VCC), which is one of the oldest community colleges in the nation. Since its inception in 1910, it has grown and expanded to over 25,000 students, and a faculty of 1,500. The largest student population consists of 38% Latino, followed by Whites, Asian Americans, African Americans, and Native Americans. The College is now operating at maximum capacity and has a waiting list for each location. In order to meet the growing demands of the community, temporary classrooms have been setup in a large portable trailer. Due to the financial pressures of the institution, a new building is currently not an option. In addition, many of the faculty members and administrators are expected to retire, which is affecting faculty and staff workloads as well as tension of program accreditations. These concerns are impacting the entire campus morale.

“How did you find the PR program at Fanshawe college?” a student asked. With a slight laugh he explained that he had simply pulled up the Ontario Colleges website and started scrolling down the page of programs, reading the descriptions and crossing off the ones he didn't like. He did this until he found the Corporate Communications Program at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. With an undergrad under his belt he entered the very program that the students surrounding him were currently taking. This program led him to many places, most notably voices.com and later, Fanshawe College where he worked as a recruitment officer and currently as a Marketing Officer. MacKinnon explains that this position entails mostly communicating back and forth

TThe College of New Jersey is the ideal college for me, from the endless amount of clubs that the college offers, to the values the college spouses. One of the values The College of New Jersey follows includes excellence. The campus is mid-size, which consequently allows for smaller classes, and as a result, the student and teacher engagement is highly encouraged. The relationship between a teacher and a student is important considering the fact that the teacher is viewed more as a mentor for their students’. In the best interest of the student, being able to communicate with the professor without hesitation allows for higher quality discussions that will expand their way of thinking as well as their engagement level with other individuals.

As the deadline approached for me to make a final decision on the college I wanted to attend, I decided to choose Albany State University. I just knew in my spirit that Albany State was the best college for me! Before transferring, I attended Agnes Scott College-- a private all women's institution. I decided to withdraw from Agnes Scott because of the financial burden it placed on my family, and because I did not feel welcomed by the community as an African American heterosexual student. To help with my decision I asked myself, “what does Albany State offer that Agnes Scott does not?” then it hit me. I chose Albany State University because of its history, the campus and what it offers, and most importantly the nursing program.
