On Wendy’s menu, there is an item called Dave’s Triple Cheeseburger. The biggest on the menu, this monster of a burger is loaded with three beef patties, three slices of cheese, and some vegetables so you feel less guilty eating it. This burger might look appealing on the menu, but don’t be fooled. This ¾ pound burger will give you a lot more than just an extra ¾ pound of mass. The Dave’s Triple is loaded with unhealthy amounts of fats and calories. A single one has 67 grams of fat total, 30 grams of saturated fat, 4 grams of trans fat, 255 milligrams of cholesterol. The amounts of 42 grams of carbohydrates, 3 grams of fiber, 10 grams of sugars, and 72 grams of protein. All of these add up to about 1,060 calories, and over half of those calories come from fat. Despite the good amounts of protein and carbohydrates, the absurd amounts of fats and cholesterol still make this burger bad for you …show more content…
Trans fat both raises LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and lowers HDL (“good”) cholesterol, and increases the chances of getting heart disease and type 2 diabetes. The 30 grams of saturated fat is also an issue. A 2,000 calorie diet should only contain 2 grams of trans fat and 16 grams of saturated fat, according to the American Heart Association, so eating one of these burgers double the trans fat and close to double the saturated fat that is acceptable. By eating a Dave’s Triple, you are not only gaining weight, you are also increasing your risk of certain
With the many options, customers must decide if they are looking for convenience and unhealthy food choices. One of the more unhealthy options at McDonald’s is a new sandwich, Bacon Habanero Ranch Quarter Pounder with Cheese. This monster of a sandwich is made with a quarter pound of 100% beef. It is topped with white cheddar cheese, Applewood smoked bacon, tomato, leaf lettuce and a spicy but creamy habanero ranch sauce on a toasted bun. Sounds delicious until the nutritious facts are given. This sandwich alone has 610 calories, 31 grams of fat, and 46 grams of carbohydrates. The fat in this sandwich is 48% of the recommended daily value. Adding fries and a drink to pair with this sandwich increases the calorie count for this meal to well over 1100. Remember, the average person consumes about 2000 calories a day. While these facts are shocking to some, Wendy’s also has some options that can be damaging to one’s health. The Baconator is at the top of the list. The name by itself says heart attack. This signature sandwich has not one, but two quarter pound ground beef patties. Like McDonald’s, it has Applewood smoked bacon. However, the only toppings are
The general public think Mcdonald’s meat is unhealthy, the school lunch meat is even more sickly. A school's burger has a lot of unknown ingredients to the everyday person and most likely is very unhealthy for anyone who eats it. People used to believe that fast food chains were the number one reason for childhood obesity. But after reading what Leah Segedie mentioned, society may think that school lunches might have moved up to the main reason for obesity for the younger generations. A school lunch has up to 26 unneeded ingredients in one school burger, and this needs to be fixed.
“Working at Wendy’s” gives a broader perspective of what it is like to work at a fast food chain. Rather than having it from the point of view of someone on the outside looking in, it comes from the perspective from someone who works at the popular fast food restaurant. It is quite an interesting perspective considering how many diverse backgrounds people who work at fast food establishments come from.
Sticking to its cores, In-N-Out righteously earned itself the title of one of the best burger joints to stop at and best burger quality. However, In-N-Out is still a fast food restaurant and the fact can’t be shunned away that it has added to rising obese population in the United States. Obesity being a tremendously large problem, the count for obese people is increasing rather than decreasing. In-N-Out does use oil and fat when making its food, which is definitely going to make the consumers gain weight. With its popularity and large consumerism, more people are eating In-N-Out and gaining a lot more weight than if they just ate home cooked food. The obesity problem will grow out of hand and cause a decline in our
Nearly 50 billion cheeseburgers/burgers are eaten per year, which means on average an American eats three burgers a week. My favorite meal would have to be a homemade cheeseburger with mash potatoes, fruit (strawberries and honeydew), and to top things off a fresh glass of sweet tea. All foods have their healthy and non-healthy factors but do you really know how your food is really affecting your body?
as fried chicken, hamburgers and chips contain a great deal of fat and salt, which cause major
We all know that hamburger does not go well if it does not have fries. This company provides a lot of fries to McDonald’s restaurant.
Fast food might be easy and cheap but people do not realize how harmful the food is for their bodies. The problem is the food that is served at these types of restaurants, especially McDonalds, are high in fat, salt, processed, and can have harmful ingredients included in the food. While home cooked food takes time to plan and make people know what they are eating, that isn’t the case at McDonalds: “McDonald’s burgers retain its fresh appearance for a very long time. This can easily fool customers who do not have a hint of this alteration in their burgers. The use of excessive preservatives is harmful for your health which McDonalds seems to overlook for gaining more and more

Who doesn't love a good burger? Hamburgers, turkey burgers, veggie burgers -- I love them all! Unfortunately, many burgers are high in fat. But not my Ahi Tuna Burger. It's low in fat and high in protein, omega-3s, vitamin D and flavor.
McDonalds and Dairy queen put at least 50 chemicals inside of their smoothies that are not good for our body’s, some involve perfumes. About 90% of adults, teens, and kids eat fast food every month, and because of that on an estimate they gain from 6-10 pounds!
“Food portions in America's restaurants have doubled or tripled over the last 20 years, a key factor that is contributing to a potentially devastating increase in obesity among children and adults” (NHLBI, 2013). Not only have the portion sizes in restaurants increase over the years, but this increase has doubled and sometimes as much as five times larger than when first introduced (Young & Nestle, 2007). The Daily Council of California wrote that some meals that may appear average in size is a lot bigger and contain a lot more calories than expected. The authors further stated that a large order of fries could contain around 1,000 calories, and your favorite burger with an extra-large soda can total over 2000 calories in one sitting (Dairy Council of California, 2018). Wendy’s Dave Hot ‘Juicy ¾ Triple burger contains 1090 calories, the big breakfast with hot cakes at Macdonald can cost you about $5.99 but punish you with over 1350 calories for only one
"Typical fast food meals consist of hamburgers or cheeseburgers, french fries, and sugar-sweetened sodas. They are frequently 'super sized' at very little additional cost, encouraging children and
Common sense might dictate that eating foods in small portions or controlling the calorie intake of each food will help stabilize weight gain, but most food found in these establishments push past the limit of daily calorie intake per day in just a single meal. “According to Consumer Reports and the Nutrition Action Health Letter, Burger King 's Triple Whopper contains 1,160 calories, 75 grams of fat, and 1050 mgs of sodium; McDonald 's Crispy Chicken Bacon Clubhouse Sandwich has 750 calories, 38 grams of fat, and 1,720 mg of sodium; Hardee 's 2/3 Pound Monster Thickburger hefts 1,330 calories, 66 grams of fat, and an astounding 1,990 mg of sodium; Taco Bell 's Cantina Burrito-Steak carries 750 calories, 28 grams of fat, and 1,940 mg of sodium.” (Ansello) From the data above, one could suggest that regularly eating these in the standard three course fashion would surpass the daily average calorie limit (2000 calories for both men and women.) The average person eats not only the sandwich alone, but consumed along with a side dish and a carbonated beverage. These meals also play a part in the lives of our children, and are the main reasons for underage obesity. To contrast the high saturated fat diets with a leafier or organic substitute, the average American has to drive further to obtain, and also pay a higher dollar cost for the diet. For example, the cost of a “Crispy Chicken Sandwich” at Wendy’s establishment is approximately one dollar, while the
Since fast food first emerged in the United States it has become a large and successful industry, netting billions of dollars every year. This rapid expansion of fast food has put a fast food establishment within reach of almost every American. In Adam Chandler’s “What if Consumers Just Want to Buy Junk Food” he claims that although a majority of Americans believe they eat healthier today than in the 1970’s, but in fact studies show the very opposite. Chandler associates this to the consumers preference of unhealthy foods, but there is strong evidence that this rise in unhealthy consumption in American society can be attributed to the marketing and business tactics of fast food corporations, the availability and ease of access to fast food, and their socioeconomic status.
