Visigoths
The Visigoths or West Goths were the first Germanic people also known as goths, that had a major impact on European history. The Goths were originally from southern Scandinavia and Baltic area. The term Visigoths originally came from the word Ostrogoths which means East Goths. One group differs from the other because one strayed away from the place of origin while the other stayed in the same area. The Goths were hospitable to Roman ways of life, adapted to Roman luxuries, and embraced the Arian form of Christianity. Much of whom were enlisted into the Roman army, and even took offices of state in Constantinople itself. Thus, when the westward drive of a Mongolian people called

Furious at the circumstance of military duty set on his people Alaric, directed his troops contrary of Constantinople, but was persuaded to turn his army into Greece, attaining Athens. famine broke out and in a decisive battle in 378 near Adrianople, in which Valens was killed. The victorious Goths then threatened Constantinople . Theodosius I, who succeeded Valens as emperor in the East, made peace with the Goths and incorporated their army into the Roman forces. From that time on, the Visigoths were an important influence in the Roman Empire. Goths who had established in Moesia became producers and were known as Moeso-Goths.The alteration of Goths to a type of Christianity (Arianism) was due to Ulfilas who translated the Bible to Goths .On the death of Theodosius in 395, the Visigoths renounced their allegiance to Rome and chose Alaric I as their ruler. Alaric invaded Greece and then Italy, and in 410 he captured and pillaged the city of Rome. In that same year he was succeeded by Ataulf, who led the Visigoths across the Pyrenees mountain range into

The Carolingians extended their rule over most Western and central Europe in much less than one 1/2 of a century and became seemed as the renewers of the Roman Empire after the Imperial coronation of Charlemagne in 800. The Carolingian Empire carried out its best territorial extent throughout the reign of Charlemagne (768-814) who added Lombardy, Saxony, Danubian simple and Spanish March to the realm of the Franks. but, Charlemagne’s empire began to say no already below his successor Louis the Pious (814-840) and collapsed via the stop of the ninth century.
The Crow Tribe is a semi-nomadic tribe full of hunters and farmers whom, after being forced onto a reservation, and moreover forgotten by the U.S government, resulted in them governing themselves, thus resulted in them creating a general council which then turned into a three-branch government. Like a good deal of Native American Tribes, the Crow Tribe was forced from their homes and placed on reserves with terrible conditions that the U.S. government hasn’t bothered to address. Although countless would argue how these acts were a necessary evil, no one dares to mention how our government ignores all suffer they caused with no sign of stopping it. As stated in the History and Culture, and Crow Indians, the Crow Tribe first originated by the Mississippi River in either Wisconsin, or Minnesota, but now resides in Montana, where they face poverty, rising crime rates, and irrigation problems.
With the limited Roman population having no support for Rome and an army made up of unloyal mercenaries, Rome’s defensive system was nonexistent. This was an invitation for barbarian tribes to take advantage of Rome’s weak point and invade which caused major destruction of Rome in various sacks by the Visigoths, Vandals, and Ostrogoths. A strong military with a fresh drive on offense is able to overcome a shriveling and idle military on defense. This was exactly the case when the Romans mistreated and belittled the Visigoths, a Germanic tribe, which ultimately gave the Visigoths a strong motive to overthrow the empire that had wronged them. With this passion, they defeated the “mighty” Roman military at the Battle of Adrianople in 378 and became the first barbarian tribe to overcome the Roman army in more than a century.
The Germanic tribe, the Vandals, were known for behaving like “barbarians”. Supposedly they migrated south to the point where they made contact with the Roman Empire. The Vandals attacked Rome although Rome had bigger problems to handle. They later established a kingdom in North Africa.
Within the communities surrounding, the findings concluded that the Aryan Brotherhood would be the majority special population gang. The Aryan Brotherhood is considered to be the majority gang located within Knox County, Tennessee.
Once Constantine became the ruler of the entire Western Roman Empire, he met with Licinius, the co-emperor of the eastern empire, in Milan in 313. The intended purpose of this visit was to secure an alliance between the two rulers by the marriage of Constantine's half-sister Constantia to Lucinius. It was at this time that the emperors established what is now known as the Edict of Milan. It granted the freedom to pursue any religion within the empire, not just Christianity. Christianity was merely made legal at this point, not the state-sponsored religion. The edict also granted the return of properties seized from Christians by governors. Maximinus Daia, who was the co-ruler of the eastern empire invaded Lucinian territory in the Balkans and was defeated by Lucinius' army. After a time, relations soured between Constantine and Lucinius. Lucinius eventually went back on the agreement made during the Edict of Milan and in 322 and began persecuting Christians once again (Constantine I). This led to the conflict between him and Constantine in 324, which was viewed as a war of religious beliefs in which Lucinius and his army of Goth mercenaries represented ancient pagan beliefs, and Constantine and his army of Francs represented Christianity. The opposing armies met at Adrianople on the third of July and eventually led to Constantine besieging the city of Byzantium with his ground troops and naval fleet.
During the year 535, Justinian overthrew the Ostrogothic Kingdom, which had occupied Italy after the split and decline of the Roman Empire. Justinian was said to be the most ambitious emperor since Constantine, whose rule ended in 337. His goal in overthrowing the Ostrogothic Kingdom was to eventually reunify the Roman Empire. Belisarius, Justinian’s general, had already

These invasions resulted in multiple changes in the Empire that ultimately weakened it. As the various invading tribes moved into Roman territory, they destroyed the farmland and fields they passed through. This decreased agricultural production in the Empire (Spielvogel 186). Then, in the late fourth century, the Huns moved west out of Asia, forcing the German barbarian tribe of Visigoths, a sub-tribe of the Goths who had previously invaded Rome, to move south and west into Roman territories. They were allowed to remain on Roman land for a time, but when the Romans tried to force the tribe out, the Visigoths fought back, leading to a great military defeat for the Roman Army in 378 at Adrianople in Greece (Spielvogel 187). The Roman Empire was never able to recover the numbers
Jayla, your discussion of the different Gothic Kingdoms was detailed. I would like to discuss the Carolingian empire. The Carolingian empire was headed by Charles the Great or Charlemagne (768-814). Charlemagne was one with the Franks and was able to extend his empire for most of the western and central Europe, which has not been done since the time of Napoleon. Most importantly, Charlemagne was crowned a Roman Emperor, which symbolized the continuance of the Roman, Christian, and Germanic practices. Einhard, a close associate of Charlemagne wrote about his achievements. Einhard stated that Charlemagne was able to defeat and pacify the barbaric tribes of Germany between the Rhine, the Vistula, the Ocean, and Danube River, all of whom varied
The territory was not powerful enough to keep the Macedonian King Fillipe II (338 B.C.) from taking Attica and adding it to the Macedonian states. In 146 B.C. Athens was controlled, together with the rest of Greece, by the Romans, who although they were conquerors, they showed respect for the city and it’s personality. After the first years A.C., Gothic tribes destructed Athens. The integration with the Byzantine Empire was finalized with the shut down of Philosophic Schools, the changing of shrines to Christian temples and the general city of Athens. After year 1214, when the Franks occupied Constantinople, Athens was given to French dukes. Their successors were Catalans, Napolitans and finally in 1456 the Turks who were the first after all these years to turn the Acropolis into a Muslim Temple "Tzami", and the Erehthion to a harem.
Both Valentinan III and his mother had a distrust of Aetius and were fearful of him attempting to seize the throne. After the threat of the Huns finally been dealt with, he was egged on by Petronius Maximus to do away with Aetius. Petronius Maximus was a high ranking senator who had a personal grudge against Aetius. Valentinian accused him of drunkenness and stated that he attempted to take the empire from him. He rushed towards the defenseless man and struck him on the head killing him instantly. “He faithfully imitated the hereditary weakness of his cousin and his two uncles, without inheriting the gentleness, the purity, the innocence, which alleviate in their characters the want of spirit and ability. Valentinian was less excusable, since he had passions without virtues: even his religion was questionable; and though he never deviated into the paths of heresy, he scandalised the pious Christians by his attachment to the profane arts of magic and divination.”Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire(XXXv 3.14).Valentinian,for all his so called intelligence was later assassinated on march 16 by two Scythian followers of Aetius, who were put up to it by Petronius Maximus, who desired to be
Antigonus ruled over Asia minor, Macedonia and Thrace and in 306 BC he declared himself king of the Macedonians "The Seleucids moved to control and reform the pre-existing Persian bureaucracy, installing Greek officials and switching from clay tablets to parchment and from cuneiform to Greek or Aramaic" (Stewart, 2004).. Antigonos' attempts to take control of the whole of Alexander's empire led to his death. His son, Demetrius managed to regain control of Macedon a few yeas later but lost his throne and died in prison.
