Gun Restrictions in the United States Whenever everyone gets to thinking about how many death occurs in the United States does anyone instantly think about a gun? The gun that everyone thinks about does not kill, the people that are using the gun usually kills. Guns have a safety switch on them which makes the gun a lot safer, but when the gun reaches the hands of a criminal the gun becomes very dangerous. Wandering the streets with a gun in your hand does not mean pull it up and just automatically start shooting everyone. Putting more gun restrictions on everyone does not help prevent dangerous things from going on it only makes it become more dangerous for us, because we would not have any protection from the bad guys. (Pratt). There should not be anymore restrictions on guns in the United States, because innocent people are dying every day, it would not decrease the mass shootings, and the 2nd amendment would be misinterpreted. …show more content…
If they were to try to enforce gun laws than the criminals would not fear pulling a gun out on a civilian. (Stossel). Taking the guns from the civilians does not help law-abiding people it only hurts them. People that are doing the right thing would be punished, because the bad people are taking advantage of the gun rights. Guns do not kill the people, the people that are in charge or are in the possession of the firearm usually does the killings. Taking the guns are going to leave the truthful people out in the open to be a target for the criminals that do what they want. Taking guns from the people that feel safe from their carrying permits would feel less safe if they were to take the guns.
Guns are a big topic in our society today with all the violence, debates, and regulations that are happening. It is a big topic in the presidential debate concerning the second amendment listed in the constitution. In “Ready..Aim..Fire” the author, Alan Gottlieb, brings up many good points concerning the violence, the stance being taken, and proving the guns are not the problem in all the violence. Being a girl who was raised up shooting a gun and being the daughter of a man who uses guns to hunt with, the idea of having more gun regulations is ridiculous. Guns should not have more regulations. They should not suffer due to the people that are reckless with them.
Every time a gun injures or kills in self defense it is used seven times in a criminal assault or homicide; furthermore the main argument against stricter gun laws is the fact that they are needed for self defense. Gun control is a very controversial and debatable topic, and many people have different opinions. In the Constitution, The Second Amendment gives the right to bear arms, but there have been restrictions on certain firearms since the Constitution was ratified. Still, gun violence continues to increase in America. There should be stricter gun laws in America because stricter gun laws will save lives, many guns are unnecessary for practical
In today's society there is the question ‘Should there be more gun laws?’. The advancements in military weaponry is nothing short of astounding. With these advancements though, come the ramifications of their inventions. More and more, the nation is seeing these weapons in actions. People are fearful and demand more laws, but that is not the answer to this dilemma. More gun laws would not resolve this problem for numerous reasons; more gun laws would lead to more violence, the United States alwardy have an excessive amount on gun laws, and the nation looks at the object not the person. The United States have to address these issues before a change will happen.
“There were 372 mass shootings in the US in 2015, killing 475 people and wounding 1,870”(MST). Guns are not a bad thing, it’s the people carrying them. That is why I think there should be Gun control that does not abuse the power of the rightfully armed. Stronger regulations are okay, but they should not violate the Second Amendment. All states should have carry laws allowing concealed carry in all states, while banning open carry of guns.
When somebody needs help, do you help them? Well one time i was at the shooting range and a worker needed help setting up a skeet thrower. He was new on the job so he didn't really know how to set it up. So i helped him carry it to the trap house, then we got it on its blocks. He didn't know how to set it up, so i showed him how to plug it in. then i had to calibrate it, and make sure it was throwing at the right height. Finally, we got to have are skeet practice, and as always i shot the best.
“Since at least 1950, all but two public mass shootings in America have taken place where general citizens are banned from carrying guns.” Now, envision being in a mall and you hear a horrible scream immediately after you hear a massive CRACK! You look behind you and you see a man running at you with a gun, you grab for your gun but you remember you have just gave your gun to the government. You would be defenseless because of gun control. Gun control should not be reinforced for the reasons that most mass shootings are in gun free zones. most gun related death are suicides, and these laws wouldn’t apply to criminals.
America has the highest amount of gun related deaths each year in the world. “In Germany 381, in France 255, in Canada 165 in the United Kingdom 68, in Australia 65, in Japan 39 and in the United States, 11,127” (Moore Michael, 51:15-51:48). Since the United States has the highest number of deaths, it is important to have gun-control laws that restrict people from owning dangerous firearms like machine guns. Gun-control laws should support both sides of the debate. Of course, both sides will not be completely happy with the laws created, but America should have a balance. In 2008, a poll was taken stating: “Adult poll respondents’ views on the meaning of the Second Amendment; An individual’s right to bear arms: Republican 51% and Democrats 41%” (The History of the Right to Bear Arms). Today, the United States is more divided on gun-control than it has ever been. The Second Amendment states: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”(Milestones in Federal Gun Control Legislation). Unless the Second Amendment is changed, we cannot take the right from others to own guns. However, the government should regulate the types of gun Americans can own and who can own a gun because times have changed and American’s mental health system is broken.
“If you take guns away from legal gun owners, Then the only people who would have guns would be the bad guys” (Hirsen). Most people are against gun restrictions because it's not the gun that kills people its the person behind the gun that kills the person. Even though gun restrictions have a negative effect on society, it is positive because the 2nd amendment allows yourself protection for human security. Each new mass shooting, the debate over gun control becomes more talked about. There can be gun regulation which is the background checking of people before owning a gun, but no, there shouldn't be any limitations for guns, if a criminal wants to buy a gun, too bad, they blew their chance, just because a criminal did get
Too many Americans die due to firearms. “New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof this past summer wrote an impassioned call for gun control that included a recounting of horrific gun-related statistics. Since 1968, he noted, more people have died from guns in the U.S. than on the battlefields of all the wars in American history combined” (“Technology” -Gralla 6). This country is supposed to
Gun Control in the United States has gone out of control. The United States should enforce laws to not allow any guns in a house hold in order to reduce violence and crime in the country. Reducing the rate of crime in the United States, controlling big weapons, taxing ammunition, and gun collection can help make this happen. Gun Control can make this country a safer environment to live in.
Raising a virtual child has made me aware of how critical the choices parents make for their child are to their maturity. By paying close attention to the minor details of my virtual child’s behavior, I have started to grasp the understanding of an infant’s physical, cognitive, and social development. Every decision I made for Rosie has gradually helped shape her personality. Although some mistakes were made, my judgments were based off of my own thoughts as well as the nature of American culture.
‘“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”’ (“Gun Control”) Due to firearms, more than 30,000 people die in America every year. Mass shootings happen frequently and people die because of the lack of laws and their security. The United States needs better gun control laws because automatic assault rifles are easy to buy, the mentally ill can purchase guns, and many die from guns each year.
In the space separating 1982 and 2012 the U.S. had approximately sixty-two mass shootings. Just because of this statement gun control should be fortified in order to reduce crime rate. Gun control laws in the U.S. are too facile. An example of this is that you can walk into a Walmart with money and an I.D. and walk out with a handgun. There are restrictions to gun ownership but they are not enforced. Usually the opposing crowd who do not want to bolster gun control use the Second Amendment as an excuse to not agree with the idea that emphasizing gun control will help the U.S. in many ways. Gun control in the U.S. should and needs to be
Guns can take out somebody’s life in an instant, now think for a minute. What if you just lost one of your closest family members to a gun? Gun control laws need to be a lot more strict because the U.S. alone loses over 30,000 people a year due to gun related deaths. That’s over 87 people going down every day (Watkins). People are against strict gun laws, all they want is a weapon to protect themselves from other people with guns. If the laws are more strict though, you wouldn’t need the gun because there would be no guns allowed (Harrison). Gun laws need to be more strict so less gun related crimes happen, people are safe, and it makes it a lot harder for people to get guns.
Wouldn’t it be nice if all Americans were more financially literate? We’d make better financial decisions, have less debt, save more and be better prepared for retirement. We may even have avoided much of our current economic plight by not getting as far into debt or by getting into mortgages that we couldn’t afford.
