1) What are some of the indications for induction of labor?
Answer:
The induction of labor is indicated if the mother has certain conditions like diabetes mellitus, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, kidney disease and hypertension. Labor is also induced if other conditions are present like preeclampsia, eclampsia, isoimmunization, if the membrane is ruptured prematurely, chorioamnionitis, death of the fetus, if the pregnancy is posterm, if the fetus does not have room for growth or if the fetal heart rate is not reassuring (Davidson, London, and Ladewig, 2012).

2) What are some of the different ways of inducing labor?
Answer:
There are many different methods to help induce labor. One includes application of prostaglandins hormones also known as Cervidil to the cervix to help promote dilation and thinning (Davidson, London, and Ladewig, 2012). Another method is providing IV Pitocin, which is the synthetic form of oxytocin to the mother. This medication is used to help increase both the strength and the rate of the contractions and it acts directly on the uterine muscles (Davidson, London, and Ladewig, 2012). Another method done by providers involves the separation of the amniotic membrane from the uterus this in turn helps to release prostaglandins, which promote labor (Davidson, London, and Ladewig, 2012).
