Thirty-fifth president John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. There campaigning for next year’s presidential election, he would have never expected to be assassinated while sitting in a motorcade, waving at the people who had congregated in the streets. The drop in the stock market, conspiracy theories, and dilemmas regarding social aspects of America were things that were affected after his assassination. The assassination of John F. Kennedy is the most controversial presidential assassination in American history.
American citizens went through a brief stage of shock and began pulling their money out of banks which caused a nearly 3% drop in the stock market a day after his death (www.usatoday.com). There are some who believe that there could have been a second gunman. Even more disturbing, there are those who believe the assassination was an inside job, specifically the CIA, because of the failed mission in Cuba or were simply acting under orders of the vice-president of the time, Lyndon B. Johnson. In addition to this, some even believe that Fidel Castro orchestrated the entire attack because of our involvement in Cuba. Another conspiracy theory is that because of Robert Kennedy's prosecution of organized crime rings, mobsters sought to take revenge by killing JFK, even if Oswald beat them to it first. These are just some of the many conspiracy theories dealing with John Kennedy that approximately 70% of Americans believe (time.com).
