Pigs, dogs and a side of power Animals have taken over or at least in the book animal farm by George Orwell. In the book the lust for power, control over dogs and a faithful friend to make a pig all high and mighty play a huge part in this book. the lust for power make one pig act like the old care take who only had his best interest at heart, but when he takes control over the dogs, no one says “no”, they are too scared to do anything. To top it all off, he has another pig that can “turn black into white “convincing them that he does it for their best interest.
For instance squealer was used to trick the animals that everything that went wrong was snowballs fault or that whatever Napoleon said was the truth. This is demonstrated by Squealer
Everywhere in the world and in almost every aspect of life, people strive for power. The desire of power is a natural thought to humans. In Animal Farm, a group of animals win their power from humans and create their own community, which they said would have no leaders. Naturally, though, leaders arise due to certain things, one of which, is knowledge. In Animal Farm, the animals on the farm gain power over the humans and start their own society, which leads to the pigs rising as natural leaders primarily because of their knowledge.
Animal Farm, a fiction novella by George Orwell, displays a political satire reflecting the problems and ironies in the Russian Revolution and the Soviet Union. Animal Farm follows the animals of Manor Farm, who revolt and take over the farm from their cruel owner. Eventually, the pigs (particularly Napoleon) become the leaders of the farm plummeting the originally republic rulership into a dictatorship. The corruption of power between the pigs leads to the ultimate suffering of the rest of the farm animals. At the end of the book, the farm animals are looking into a window where the pigs and humans are having a meeting and realize, “The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.” (Orwell 141). This scene conveys to the readers that not only have the pigs abused their power, but the animals only realized once it was too late. The pigs exploit the animals several times throughout the story, most apparently through the alterations of the original rules set in place by the pigs themselves. The repetition of lying to the remaining animals shows the pigs’ fraudulence in their
Orwell shows the difference in those with absolute control and those without the ability to express themselves by describing how “the pigs did not actually work, but directed and supervised the others. With their superior knowledge, it was natural that they should assume the leadership”(35). By including this quote within the making of the new farm, Orwell expresses how the pigs took advantage of their authorial positions so they could force the others to work, while they dominated Animal Farm with their own rules. The pigs’ power allowed them to have freedom to do anything they wanted, but caused the other animals to be restricted further in their lives, work, and individual rights. This resulted in the exploitation of the other animals, forcing them to have lose any hopes of having an equal society. Still, the other animals did not protest, and instead believed the pigs should be in power because of their intelligence. Their actions lead to the oppressive, dictatorial society shown as Animal Farm progresses. Soon, the inequity between the pigs and other animals develops to a point where “all rations were reduced, except those of the pigs and the dogs. A too rigid equality in rations, Squealer explained, would have been contrary to the principles of Animalism”
In contrast, the Animals in animal farm have their power taken from them in front of their eyes, however, a combination of low intelligence and pigs capitalising on animal stupidity leads to the animals believing they are free and in power while they actually are not at all, the animals definitely have
Although the pigs in this novel are terrible creatures who do terrible things, they are unfortunately very, very smart. These pigs are power hungry, and they will do anything that it takes to maintain their power. But, to maintain power, the pigs must first gain power. The pigs use education as a way to gain power. After the rebellion in the beginning of the novel, the pigs find books that teach them to read in the farm house. The pigs, being the power hungry animals that they are, teach themselves how to read and write. They know that they are much smarter than all of the other animals on the farm. Since the other animals could not learn how to read or write, the pigs used this as leverage to get power. Because they are the only animals that could read or write, they were quickly thought of as leaders and much
Animal Farm written by George Orwell is an animal fable happens in a farm where animals start building a communism society, but end up being totalitarianism, hinting obliquely at the communists in the real world. The gaps between pigs and other common animals, demonstrate the theme that the corruption of power appears when majority is ruled. The intelligence superior allows the pigs placing themselves at a position which is closer to the power and which is more easily to corrupt. The inability to question the authorization makes the other common animals becoming the naïve working class who suffers the corrupting influence of power. The nature of pigs, greed, is the source of their undying lust for ultimate power. At the end, the
In the book Animal Farm the animals take over the farm shutting out Mr. Jones. Then the pigs tell the animals that they are more intelligent and know how to read and write so therefore they should be the leaders of the farm. The animals basically a agree without any objections in play. This doesn’t include Snowball and Napoleon. These two are always fighting and debating about what needs to be done. Which all leads to the pigs gaining power.
Pigs to Power In the story Animal Farm by George Orwell the animals decide to have a rebellion against the humans. The pigs on the farm are the ones who ascend into power during this time of rebellion for many different reasons. The pigs are the most intelligent, clever animals on the farm. “The work of teaching and organising the others fell naturally upon the pigs, who were generally recognized as being the cleverest of the animals (Orwell 25).”
And that’s how the animals are acting toward the other animals, especially the pigs! The pigs take power after o’l major, and took everybody’s control to himself. And the animals are so caught up into the pigs lies, that they don’t know they are basically being taken advantage of, and being controlled! But, they haven’t stepped up to snowball yet, but are realizing the fame the pigs are playing. Power has to be earned and not taken advantage of, it has to be used correctly and no one should be allowed to overpower you snf control, cause that’s when you have to take control and gain your power back no matter the sacrafice you have to
George Orwell’s Animal Farm is a perfect example of how ignorance and lack of education can be used for control. Control which can lead to political and social oppression. The experiences of the various characters present how the pigs use this idea to oppress the animals of Animal Farm.

In the book Animal Farm, the animals take over the farm’s owner, Mr. Jones. They then create their own government where all the animals are equal and answer to nobody. They tell themselves that they would never do what a human being does and never take a human’s habit. However, after a while, the pigs (who are the cleverest animals on the farm), take over and then the animals practically become the pig’s slaves. The pigs then do everything they are not supposed to do, and almost become humans themselves.
Anna Katherine Alderman Mrs. Brock 3rd period 16 August 2017 Power to the Pigs The need for power has challenged man throughout time, resulting in manipulation and other corrupt actions. Many significant historical figures have fallen to this corruption because of their hunger for dominance and leadership. Just like these people in history strive for power, so do the characters in Animal Farm, as they want to control Manor Farm. While there are some characters who want power and dominance, there are also those who are oblivious to the leadership role which allows them to be taken advantage of greatly.
In Animal Farm by George Orwell, he uses the animals to represent everyone in our society today. In this novel, satire is the use of animal characters as a representation to show the Russian Revolution. The humans, portrayed by animals, are being ridiculed and it shows the breakdown of political ideology, and the misuse of power. Each of the characters portray an individual in society that expresses how humans can act similarly to animals. We can be perceived as animals because we can be separated by classes, or by our appearances. We often become what we don’t want to be, as in the novel the animals make rules to not become humans. We soon find out that the pigs are standing and becoming just like humans. The pigs hold all the power, and everything is fitted around them.
