Another difference between the United States and China are the traditions and customs. On the contrary, to the United States where most Americans rarely know where the majority of their ancestors are laid to rest, The Chinese are very attached to their ancestors. Families go once a year to visit the gravesites of each ancestor and pay their respects. In addition, greetings of Chinese hardly differ from Americans’. The USA and China are one of the largest countries in the world with more than 9.3 million square meters. There are a lot of interesting parallels between China and America. Both China and America emphasize the importance of their national identity and values. Moreover, they both have a strong military presence and the people in these two countries have a great respect for their militaries. However, when I moved from China to America, there are apparent changes in my education before going to college and after going to college, such as the size of class, students’ study stress and teaching styles.
The products of China played a role in the way the United States came about and how their identity was created and solidified. China was seen as influential and beneficial for the Americans through trade and customs that they brought along with them. Some individuals have traveled over to the United States for the Gold Rush and others just wanted a better life for their future and for their families’ future. There were other convincing reasons that pushed the Chinese to migrate away from their hometown into a new environment as well.

Chinese new year and american new year have a few similarities but also are very different from each other, Chinese new year is a time of celebration in the chinese culture, typically families reunite, play games and eat dinner together but when the clock hits midnight they light off fireworks. The Chinese new year celebration comes from a old story about a red monster that was very loud that would steal children and often times eat them so to counteract the monster the chinese people would decorate their homes in red and throw firecrackers out of their houses to confuse the monster into staying away from their children. In China people value their families very much compared to the U.S. where people value their looks and are more self centered

This year is my forth year that I has been studying in the United State. I’m already used to the U.S. culture and the U.S. living style. So in general, I didn’t experience any culture shock after I got here. If I had any culture shock, it’s probably three years ago. I couldn’t remember any of them. However I do have some thoughts about the differences between the U.S. and China after four years of studying in the United States.

What my main point is that in this essay you will learn more about the two civilizations I have been researching. I hope that you enjoy this essay, and that you learn a lot from it.

When I was 10 years old, my mom and I went to Shanghai for a month and a half. Shanghai was very entertaining, it was very different from America in some ways, yet it also was in some ways very similar to America. Surprisingly, the most popular restaurant in Shanghai is actually KFC. The most popular part of Shanghai is on the other side of the river from all the buildings, known as “The Bund”. The view from the riverside was an amazing view, so everybody went there to see the skyline and take pictures. The metro station to go to the riverside was about 3 blocks away from the real riverside, so you had to walk through the main marketplace. Since this area was the most tourists visited the place, there were a lot of businesses and stores there.
