The instructor I interviewed is a Histology instructor who works part-time at Yale University teaching in traditional classroom. She also works at Goodwin College located in Maryland teaching online part time as well. Furthermore she works fulltime as a histology tech which she has done for the past eight years. What do you like about your job? What she loves most about her job is the hand on aspect of it. She loves demonstrating what she do on a daily basis as a Histo- technician to her students. Getting her students to understand how simple it is but also realizing the importance of their job as Histo- technician. She stated “I love seeing my students succeed, how pride they feel after they have completed the program. What are the challenges you face in your job? She claimed communication is one her biggest challenge she faced. Trying to explain the material and some students cannot grasp what is being thought. Further she has problem with students contacting her at the last minute with problem or inquires that require immediate respond and if she doesn’t respond to them almost immediately than that is a problem. What have you learned in your position? I quote she stated “I have learned so much working with different age groups, personality, student from different culture and backgrounds.” She also said working with so many different types of students provide her with the opportunity to learn from them as well. She has also learned to keep herself current with technology
Good communication and the ability to express ones feelings and thoughts is an important enabler to building trust between Teaching Assistant, pupils and other colleagues.
A first year student has greatly been influenced and encouraged by being surrounded by peers like her culturally.
Also, she has a certain down-to-earth approach that makes learning fun, thus more interesting to attend her tutoring sessions. Moreover, her personalized attention focuses on the specific needs of individual students.
In the case scenario provided, Jeff Bliss though that the teacher was not teacher as it is expected of her. According to Bliss, students need to be taught on a face to face basis in order for them
be a few students who act out or disrupt the flow of learning. This is no different for Ms. Anderson. She
Can you tell me about this person’s ability to be flexible in responding to a student’s needs?
“She was able to answer all our questions about the subject and provided us with information and resources to further our learning. I felt prepared for the next school year.”
For Mrs. Tapia, the positive aspects of her role are gratifying and fulfilling. She enjoys interacting with students and be able to see their academic growth and social development. The challenging aspect of her role is the fact that at times there are families that challenge the system or the diagnosed condition of a student and the student doesn’t receive the services needed. Furthermore, there continues to be a great amount of paperwork that needs to be completed per student and the administrative bureaucratic ideas/policies make it challenging at times.
I will be entering the associate’s degree program in Radiologic Technology and Medical Imaging this fall semester and my journey to this program started at LaGuardia Community College where I was a student taking English as a Second Language. I immigrated to the United States a little over five years with my son to live with my husband and I am very excited that I got accepted to the Radiologic Technology program at New York City College of Technology. I will be the first one in my siblings to be educated in another country and I hope to not only make my mother proud but show my children that education through hard work is an important key to success in life. The program at LaGuardia was very difficult and challenging, especially learning English as an
Throughout her time here, the challenge that she tackles the diverse needs that each student has concerning their health, and that no two students are the same. There’s a lot to handle, but she doesn’t look at it as a burden but she recognizes it as an opportunity to invest into the student body. Sanders goes on to say, “That the students keep me young and young at heart, especially, and you all are such a good group of people, and I call everybody kids, well they’re young enough to be my children. I kind of feel like that sometimes maybe I take on that nurturing mother
Your interview with Mrs. Marybeth Elswick was absorbing. I liked the questions and answers that you asked her and she gave you. I like what Mrs. Elswick said about handling the classroom discipline. I know as a future teacher I will take that into consideration. I also agree with Mrs. Elswick about if teachers should be responsible for their student's performance. When you are a teacher, you are being told how to teach daily and not letting things go your way. Even the questions paper you set applies to scrutiny and your notes too. Then what are the form of a teacher? And the second point should be you are held responsible for students performance.
My task is to provide a support system, a welcoming climate and effective communication to ensure that the student has an increased level of cognitive responsibility to learn independently and continue to build on that knowledge to find their own answers; to study effectively and with efficiency. It also enables them to investigate their learning style and use that knowledge to their advantage. The meeting should not be rushed as I am attempting to connect with these students not just “hurry them out and grab the next
Good communication is a criterion that sets many students apart in terms of traits. This is useful when building any form of rapport between them and the lecture or tutor. A student that respectfully communicates has also come out as self-motivated and is more likely to get more help from the teacher since their problems are aired out effectively. Students that do not communicate can be misjudged and mistaken for lack of motivation and self-confidence. In addition, students who are good communicators are made, not born (Floyd, 2013).
I found Ms. Young to be eager, enthusiastic and sensitive to her approach to succeed in my class. Her positive outlook played out well during her experience in my class. Ms. Young has a sincerity and willingness to work hard that will serve her
She also loves helping others and putting them before her as well. She resides in Stockton with her immediate family. Stockton consists of people from various backgrounds. Mostly, people of color make up the structure of the city. The city consists of many and a variety of resources to help those of different backgrounds. I have met with this student, at this point, four times in working and identifying what she would like to work on.
