To be American means a lot to me especially if you were born and raised in America. To me I think America is a great place to travel when you live in different countries like South America and Europe. Places like South America would love to come to America because they really don’t know how it is America. They can go places they’ve never been before, we’ve already been there so, it’s not really new to us. If they are going to go shopping they should go Los Angeles, California because they have everything you would want in their mall. California is a great o place to go in America because of the beach and its home of the Golden State Warriors. It’s also known as the Golden State because of the Golden State Bridge. Another place to visit that
To be an American means many different things. It means to be kind and help others. It means that no matter what we stick together and fight for our country. Most of all to be American means to stay strong and and stick together through thick and thin. We have stuck together as a country through times of war and terror.
The article “What Does it Mean to be an American?” questions multiple views on what being an American citizen means as America is mostly made up of immigrants and could alter the overall meaning. In the articles, they went over many different statistics and surveys to find out what people thought being an American meant and what the value behind it was. Robert P. Jones, his team, and Steven M. Warshawsky each had different opinions on what being an American meant. Warshawsky argued that identifying as an American means following America’s beliefs, laws, and way of life.
What it means to be an American, to me it means to fight for this great country that our God created, the same god who made everyone of us. I also feel it's my duty if our country goes into a major war, then I feel I should go and fight for what's right. Therefore I also feel that everyone was made equal and we are the same we are people and Americans so why can't we all matter. To me no one is more popular or bigger than anyone we are all Americans and people, the people who think they are bigger and more popular than anyone else they like to think they are, but they really aren't. Like Hillary clinton she likes to think she is all good and she is all innocent of what the things we Americans said she did,
What It Means To Be An American My true definition of what it means to be an American is, celebrating the holidays with your family. Our country of the United States is and will always be Interwoven from the Fourth Of July to celebrate the Independence that we are given from the soldiers that fought in a war for us, our freedom of Independence that we are not disparate from each other, and spending time with you family or friends celebrating this special day by firing off fireworks or going to your local parade. Also my favourite of the holidays being Christmas with the long break that us kids in school get, or spending time with family and eating celebratory dinners with the people you love the most. All though other people have many different ideas of what it means to be an American, this is what I believe is the definition of being an American.
What does it mean to be an American? If you believe in the fundamentals that this country was founded upon, I think you’re an American. There are many people living in this country who consider themselves American, but their neighbor who has a different skin color or accent is not. These Americans in my opinion are not true Americans. As I said, I think you have to believe in the fundamentals.
What does being an American mean to me? That is a question that many people over their entire lives have at least once thought about. Being an American citizen gives me many rights and liberties, and that makes this country so unique. I have visited other countries on my vacations, and many have relied on people coming from other countries to help make money, mostly from tourism. These countries have been changing their laws and government to make them more free, but visiting those countries as a tourism-which in some countries I have for months at a time-is very different then living there and being a resident.
Americanism. According to the dictionary it means "a characteristic feature of English as used in the United States." To me it means a lot more than that. It means three main things to me like freedom, all of our needs are. When I hear the word freedom, I think about freedom of speech and the freedom of choice. In America, we have the freedom of speech. We can say what we want to say anytime we want to say it. The power of speech is often abused. People in America often do not realize how lucky they are to. Another thing that I think Americanism means is freedom of choice. From the time children are born and until they go off on their own, the parent or guardian tries to choose what is best for the child. Children choose their own destiny while
What does it mean to be an American? There are many different aspects to being an “American”. Four ways can be used to define and explain what it means to be an American. These four ways are negation, function, example, and classification. Exemplification can be used to define being an American in the best way.
What it means to be American? Everybody you ask this question to will have a completely different response. Some responses might have similarities but none will be exactly the same. In the beginning of the year my response was “To be an American means having a rich history, having opportunities to better ourselves, and having freedoms.” Unfortunately not everyone has had the same opportunities or freedoms. Native Americans, who are indigenous, dealt with having their freedoms taken away, less opportunities even though they had rich history in this land before it was taken away from them. Look at what Zitkala-Sa endured. Not only that, but African Americans have fought long and hard for freedom and equality as well. W.E.B. Du Bois stood for
Being an American is not a phrase that should be thrown around lightly. Ask the question of “what does it mean to be an American?” seventy-five years ago during a World War and someone will get a totally different answer than today, but the meaning behind the answers stays the same. Americans have the freedom to choose, or not to choose, just about every aspect of their life from religion, to government leadership, to education. This freedom of choice is something that is usually not recognized and often taken for granted.
I want to visit California. It is a very fun and exciting place. It has my favorite basketball team there, the Golden State Warriors. It also has places like Disneyland Seaworld, and the Golden Gate Bridge. There are many fun things to do in California. Let’s get into why I want to go there.
Although an American can be defined as person born in America or someone who is an American citizen, I firmly believe that the definition of an American goes much deeper than that. An American is somebody that goes outside with a positive aura around them that many countries are envious of. An American can walk around everyday knowing that the majority of the people in this country can live with less fear than they did in their home country. The term “Americanism” has a feeling of confidence radiating from it; however, this “perfect” country may not be so flawless after all.
It is often said that being an American means sharing a commitment to a set of values and ideals.Writing about the relationship of ethnicity and American identity, the historian Philip Gleason put it this way: To be or to become an American, a person did not have to be any particular national, linguistic, religious, or ethnic background. All he had to do was to commit himself to the political ideology centered on the abstract ideals of liberty, equality, and republicanism. Thus the universalist ideological character of American nationality meant that it was open to anyone who willed to become an American. To take the motto of the Great Seal of the United States, E pluribus unum– “From
American writings have portrayed numerous ideologies of what it means to be an American and these ideals have transcended throughout time and can clearly be depicted by the major influential literary aspirants from each century. The one thing that remains the same is that it has always been a struggle to forge a truly "American" identity given the fact that our nation is one of immigrants. These early works reached the level of literature, as in the robust and perhaps truthful account of his adventures by many literary aspirants such as: Thomas Jefferson, William Bradford, Crevecoeur, and Ralph Waldo Emerson. Through the tendentious journalistic accounts as directed by the edification of these credited writers, the identity of these
The state of California is one of the most prodigious states in America and is also one of the most populated. Its known for its stars and their beaches. California is a beautiful state filled with so many more people than Ohio is. I have wanted to live there ever since I was 14. Thats been four years of me obsessing over that place.
