I have danced for the past 9 years and have and still love every minute of it. For how much i have learned over the past 9 years i have also learned a lot in this class. So far my favorite has been the hip hop combo that my group did. It has been my favorite because I really liked the music, choreography and style: and I don’t really enjoy hip hop that much so I was surprised that I really enjoyed that combo. I also like the 3 days of fitness, because it motivated me in so way to try my best and I feel that I improved the workouts that we did over the 3 days. The bones and muscles were cool to learn about because I think that it is important to know which muscle/bone is where and if you get injured you have a better idea of what you injured
Good read for an article, the concept of image is something I do on the daily. Make me a poster to capture this concept…example Hockey Jersey Night. Making the poster took some thinking how do you capture the event with few words and strong imagery. (See attached pdf) To design you have to think outside the box and use imagery and word play a lot. Keep it simple is my motto and white is good when it refers to space within the design, but we are not talking about designing a poster we are talking about writing.
Passage 1 Passage 1 is the first description, in the beginning, that readers get of Georgiana specifically, through Alymer’s eyes. It is also the first introduction to the themes of control and obsession that continue throughout the rest of the story. This passage establishes the dichotomy that forms between Georgiana’s beauty and Almer’s desire for complete and utter perfection. Alymer, to some extent, is set up to be a character that tries to play ‘God’ where, instead, he ends up being more akin to the ‘Devil’. Wherein, he destroys Georgiana in his quest to make her “perfect”.
My favorite dance was the contemporary routine with Derek, Jaja, and Alexia. The choreographer, Stacey Tookey, explained that the piece was about bravery in different forms: Derek played a veteran, Jaja was portraying a woman leaving an abusive relationship, and Alexia took on the role of a single mother. I really enjoyed the dance because of the story it was trying to convey; each dancer dove into character and brought out complex emotions through their movements. The dancers connected deeply with each of their stories, even though they were completely different people. They were portraying things that they had never personally experienced in their lives before. They showed the strengths of the characters along with their weaknesses, they
The reason I went to this particular dance show is because I have had the absolute pleasure of getting to know some truly incredible students at
I learned a lot of things that lead me to who I am today, and yes maybe I am not the best girl in the world, maybe I am not the kindest, or the prettiest, but I am who I am and if people are not okay with that then I don’t need those people in my life. People who don’t dance just see dance as it is. Steps, and more steps. Us, dancers see the movements of the dance and go deeper into their story. To us, each little movement we make means something and as the audience is looking at us and seeing our pain and or happiness, they see the story we are telling behind the movements and the music. I can say I learned how to be someone that anyone can trust, someone who is there for you no matter the situation. I learned how to overcome my worst fears, and learned that is okay to fail. What’s not okay is to be a shadow when the light is in the stage pointing at you. To shut yourself down, and not accomplish what you
True valor is defined as strength of mind or spirit that enables a person to encounter danger with firmness: personal bravery. In the epic story The Iliad, Achilles and Hector exemplifies courage, strength, and loyalty for their country. Although they are from two separate cultures, one Achaeans and the other Trojan, they both accept their fate as they battle each other in war. Courage not cowardness runs through the blood of a hero.
Thanks to this dance I feel more of a connection when I dance with my family and I am more confident and It makes me dance a lot more than I used to. Dancing is huge in my family it makes us (in my opinion) more connected being able to laugh and spend time together just makes a difference. I have a big family +100 cousins and I always feel like I'm close to every single on them because of dancing. This class gave me a better understanding of why my family dances it really gives a connection to everyone who is dancing. Also I think everyone should take a dance class regardless if they need it for their major, I being a chemical engineering student still think it is very relevant to take this class because I think it helps broaden who you interact with
I was a dancer for fourteen years, beginning at the age of four and ending at the age of 18. I participated in basically every type of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, modern, lyrical, and contemporary. Each year, I would participate in more classes than the last, and it eventually got to the point where I would be attending dance classes five or six days of my week. It definitely got tiring, but I still loved it. Dance is a great way to be able to portray emotions through movement, and I think that is very unique and special to participate in. It was a very huge part of my life, and so were the people teaching me. Dance and everything that came with it was a huge influence on my life, and it helped shaped me into the person I am today.
This week Grace and I taught one day and during our time teaching I had a great time. We tried the dances this week and personally I liked the dancing better than the other warm ups we have done. I feel with the dancing everyone gets more involved and they just be themselves because everyone is dancing and just having fun. I think this week stuck out the most to me so far out of all of the weeks becuase Grace, Bailey, Ella, and I went around the stations together and while we were going around Grace and I were just having fun and hanging out. But what really stuck out and meant alot to me was when Joanne came and told me that I was doing a good job with Ella, it was just a little thing that really stuck out to me.
I really enjoyed this class due to the variety of activities that were assigned, and the people I was able to bond with. I would have to say that “Turbo Kick” was my favorite activity we did. Although I ended up spraining my ankle during the session, it was still a lot of fun. Another one of my favorite activities would be the free workout days at the corec. I felt like I could workout at my own pace, without holding anyone back. I also was able to work on cardio, strength, and endurance activities as many or as little as I wanted.
For the end of Ballet techniques, alignment, Jazz and Dance Theater I learned how much the way we use each muzzle perfectionazis the move or technique of a dance, I also learned a lot of history of Jazz which I never knew that it was history. I used to dance in a competitive dance academy in Argentina, and I absolutely loved the choreographies but after moving back to Spain it was really hard to find a dance teacher that I was able to adapt and enjoy but in this dance class I definitely love every choreography. Most of the techniques used to learn new dance moves work for me, as long as I enjoy the class, I get interested and I think it’s really fun.
semester I had to take Dance 131-2 because it was one of my requirements for general classes. After attending “A Cadiz Por Alegria” and attending my first Dance course, dance has meant something more than just dancing. In “A Cadiz Por Alegria” performances there were so many steps, movements and clothes that I have learn taking Spanish Dance. This performance has been so different than any other I have gone to. Dresses were looking beautiful as well the people performing never I had watched a dance performed like I had this year. Hand movements were very well moved, also the rhythm of the music was being well followed. What was so amazing was how everyone was working
Hip hop is widely know as a genre of music that started in a New York City borough called the Bronx in the late 1970s, but it is more than just the music. Hip hop is a culture that consists of being a disc jockey which is also known as deejaying or turntabling, MCing or rhyming “rapping”, graffiti, fashion, and breakdancing. Hip hop was mostly an underground culture only know to the people living in the Bronx. Hip hop is a relatively new culture which fascinates most people because it of its somewhat aggressive musical performance and how hip hop artists express their feelings about society and how the government treats people of the Hip Hop culture. Hip hop was and is still known as poetry talking about anything from technology to
Rap/Hip-Hop is a huge part of today’s music industry, with a more loyal fan base than any other genre of music. Even though they have such a large following, there are still many that disapprove of how the Rap game is conducted, and have no respect for the people who claim to be rappers.
In the year of 1973, an iconic style of music arose: Hip Hop. Throughout the years it gradually became about partying, doing drugs, and rebelling against authority. A suitable example of this would be the tremendously popular rap group known as Migos. Often, their lyrics refer to getting money, doing drugs, and keeping secrets from law enforcement officers. Although their tunes are appealing, the meaning behind the lyrics have absolutely no difference from other rappers.
