I grew up in the church and I find Paul’s commandments to be insightful. I think these are very simple and straight-forward and anyone can do it. But like I’ve said, the problem lies to people because not all are eager to follow these commands. Religious groups should teach the believers on what does it really mean to be a Christian based on the Bible, Jesus, and God.
People are not committed followers of Christ just because they study the Bible. That is only part of the process. The Great Commission tells us to make disciples, baptize them, and teach them to obey (Matthew 28:16). The Great Commandment tells us to love God and others. (Matthew 22). The New Commandment in John tells us to love one another (John 13:34-35). The church needs to be able to forge relationship so that they in turn can reproduce more Christians.
The first rule and most important commandment in my opinion is to treat others the way you want to be treated. This is a very basic and well known unwritten rule but yet not many people abide by this rule. People tend to treat others as if they are of less importance or of lower class. Everyone is equal and everyone has the same rights so nobody should feel
Understanding that God has made requirements allows believers to understand that God requires those statutes to be kept and that by His expectations mankind will be judged. Peter understood this in Acts 5:29 when he stated, “We must obey God rather than men.” God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33) therefore He would not provide random, nonsensical rules to follow, but a pattern laid out that leads believers to a home in Heaven. In Philippians 3:17 Paul states, “Brethren join in following my example and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in
Another commandment treat other people like we would want to be treated. If more people respect others around them by helping in caring ways; one way people could help is by picking up school supplies that has dropped to the floor from another person that
For Kierkegaard’s opinion, he thinks it is more truth for “become a Christian” rather than “be a Christian”. Because in Kierkegaard’s era, it is easy to be a Christian. Just born and grow up in a certain society and accept baptism, go to the church. Because in 19th century, almost everyone born in a such environment that the whole society is Christian. Though, Kierkegaard thinks totally being a real Christian is impossible in a person’s life. It seems like a task that never be completed. The essence of “become a Christian” means renewing the relationship with God in every moment, at the same time, required their lives in pious way in every moment try to achieve their goal that being a Christian.
The Ten Commandments are regarded as the fundamental laws that all Christians are to conform to. They were written by the hands of God himself and revealed to Moses on Mount Sinai, inscribed on two stone tablets. They offer basic rules of behaviour for spiritual and moral living to Christians. These laws still instruct Adherents today, for they expose sin and show us God's standard. Without the sacrifice of Christ, Adherents are completely helpless to live up to God's holy standard.
Roald Dahl successfully presents scary/creepy moments/ideas in his writing, by make simple things a lot stranger.
Our country’s founders were also religious men. They prayed before sitting down to write the Constitution, and all sessions of congress were opened with prayer. Many of society’s current laws are based upon biblical commandments laid down thousands of years ago. For example, it is illegal to commit murder, adultery is acceptable grounds for legal divorce, and one must not take property that belongs to another. These are exact replicas of the following commandments; “You shall not kill,” “You shall not commit adultery,” and “You shall not steal,” (New American Bible 75).
I think that Jesus has set a good guide to help make the decision between right and wrong easier with The Ten Commandments. Here are some examples, you shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. You shall not covet. (The Ten Commandments)
The church could take a lesson from Paul and his techniques for reaching people where they are for the Kingdom.
“ With the aurora borealis flaming coldly overhead, or the stars leaping in the frost dance, and the land numb and frozen under its pall of snow, this song of the huskies might have been the defiance of life, only it was pitched in minor key, with long-drawn wailings and half-sobs, and was more the pleading of life, the articulate travail of existence” (London 37). The novel, Call of The Wild, by Jack London is based in the Yukon during the gold rush. The main character Buck, a Scottish Shepherd St. Bernard, goes through a series of events and masters which begins his retrogression to the primitive. He was once kingly until he was stole and taken to become a sled dog. Experiencing this life pulls him towards the more primitive.
The word Christian has a variety of meanings to people depending on their history with Christians; and the word has come to represent something other than the dictionary definition. The word Christian is often interpreted as someone that is hypocritical, judgmental, and oftentimes egotistical; but that shouldn’t be how people view the word. Sadly, some Christians are well-suited for those terms, but the majority of Christians don’t fit the negative standard.
10 Commandments. These say how we ought to behave e.g. thou shall not kill etc. and everyone has the same shared values and beliefs · Maintains Social Order: Parsons sees religion as a means of adjusting to unforeseen events such as death etc. religion helps people readjust to normal. It helps us to deal with uncertainty.
What does it mean to be a Christian verses a Child of God, in today’s society? This question also stems from the DB assignment this week. Which is in essence to refute the doctrine of those that in fact teach heresy. Therefore, consider the question asked from this stand point, every human on this planet can claim to be Christian and live under the law of sin, without having a relationship with Christ, however, believing in God. Now that sounds like an oxymoron, but in reality that is exactly what society believes is possible. Living the life of sin they choose and still reside in heaven after death. Failing to release there is more than one death that must be overcome in order to live eternally with God. However, what of the Child of God? A true believer is known as a Child of God today, based on the established life changing relationship that is divinely purchased by the Blood of the Lamb.
In your progress, some of the Ten Commandments can become more important than others. That's just fine. Use them for inspiration and motivation.
