Thanksgiving is more than just a day off or a break from school, it’s more than just a holiday. It’s more than just stuffing your face with mash potatoes and turkey. It's a time to fellowship and give thanks. This year has brought about multiple challenges, but we have stayed faithful and strong as a family. There is nothing more powerful than our family. God has blessed me with such a solicitous family. To my grandparents, you have paved the way for all of us to follow. You made us a family. You all made every moment memorable and made sure we knew how loved we are. You all light up the room and make everyone feel loved. You two are an inspiration to so many. I am so proud and blessed to call you my grandparents. You give the warmest hugs and make the best food. There is not many places, I feel as loved as I do when I am with y’all. I love you so much. …show more content…
You both are so prominent in my life and I could not be more thankful for that. This year has brought about a lot of challenges, while also many good times. Like, showing up to Disney at six in the morning after not sleeping the night before. Or finding out that I have a high chance of surgery, but you both were there through it all. Thank you for always loving me in the good and the bad times. “You taught me to do the right things. You’ve given me everything I will need to make it through this crazy thing called life. So don’t you worry about me. There’s no way you’ll ever lose me”; YOU’RE STUCK WITH ME, YOU TOO
Thanksgiving is a day for families to gather to enjoy a meal together and give thanks for their blessings. I always loved Thanksgiving as a child, because of the abundance of delicious food and the safe and joyful atmosphere of fellowship. However, not every child experiences this wonderful time of Thanksgiving. I witnessed this as I served on the Turkey Drive in my community. The Turkey Drive delivers a Thanksgiving meal and other essential groceries, provided by the local Kroger’s, to struggling families in Augusta County.
Thanksgiving is the time to come to enjoy each other's company and eat good. Most of the time families watch football together and catch up with each other. Thanksgiving means showing thanks and appreciation to the ones that have been so good and loyal to them. Show their loved ones they are appreciated and that you love them.
On the edge of winter comes November, introducing early evenings, brisk air, and leafless trees, but before winter settles in, Thanksgiving must come in. While there are some constants in the way we observe the day, it is certain that America’s once most treasured holiday has gone down in the past years. Many stores today, are already skipping Thanksgiving, and heading straight to Christmas because retail stores are more concerned with their profits than the bonding time of families across the world. However, it is critically important to understand the benefits Thanksgiving introduces to the world. Whatever one’s view is, people should continue to celebrate Thanksgiving for its strengthening of families, and its benefits to the economy.
I’m going to give you an example of my most memorable Thanksgiving. This goes back to four years ago. I believe I was in the seventh grade around this time. Thanksgiving was at my grandmother's house that year. So everyone definitely came for the food. The problem was that my two aunties weren’t getting along at that time. One came up from Florida and the other came up from Jamaica. My aunty Darrett was from Jamaica and my auntie Reds is from Florida. They were my grandma’s sisters. Now imagine being in a house on a holiday with two of your family members not speaking. Once it was time for us to eat we all was
What does Thanksgiving mean to me? It would be dishonest of me to say that it is a time where I get to express what or who I am thankful for in my life. I do not think of it as a holiday where I am allowed to eat until I pass out either. In reality, Thanksgiving means time with my family. I do not just mean my parents and my siblings, I mean my whole family. I absolutely adore the fact that I have such an enormous family. Everyone comes home to my grandmother’s house on both sides of the family. Luckily, both of my grandmothers live within a five mile radius of each other. This means, after I spend time with my father’s side of the family, I can drive a couple of minutes to spend a bit of time with my mother’s side of the family. This is the
Are you thankful for something? Well I am. I’m thankful for a roof over my head, good health, and family. Being thankful is when you express your gratitude and relief to others that do a lot for you. You can show someone you're thankful by doing the littlest things. So this Thanksgiving show someone how thankful you are. It doesn’t even have to be Thanksgiving, you can thank someone anyday. You can show thanks by baking cookies for a loved one, or you could even just tell someone thanks. I hope you take what I just told you, and go thank someone, because it’s not that hard. Now I’m going to tell you what I’m thankful for and why.
It’s the season of fall, almost winter. The leaves turn into a mix of all types of orange colors and the change of decor your mom brings to the house to advocate the time of Thanksgiving or the foods you’ve been waiting all year round to just smash your face into. That’s what I think of when Thanksgiving comes to mind! Out of all the holidays: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Eve, ETC; my favorite one of all would be Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a time where the problems you had with your cousins, fights with your parents, and even the disconnection between your other family members, when it’s Thanksgiving day though, all those problems are left at the door step.
It is no secret that Thanksgiving is a holiday of many interpretations. Depending on which interest group is being asked, this day of observance can be accompanied by negative or positive connotations. According to its Google definition, Thanksgiving is “an annual national holiday marked by religious observances and a traditional meal including turkey.” Thanksgiving, as described in textbooks across the country, is a national holiday which came to be in Plymouth, Massachusetts during the year of 1621. In its prime, Thanksgiving has been described as “a three-day festival of eating, hunting, and other entertainment in honor of the pilgrims’ first successful harvest,” (History). What history textbooks around the world do not tell you is that these are only miniscule details regarding what the holiday actually commemorates.
Thanksgiving is a day family and friends have a traditional meal including turkey. Thanksgiving is always held on the fourth Thursday of November every year. It’s a very special holiday when everybody comes together as a family to cook, enjoy, and bless the food, but also to enjoy each other. In 2015, I had a special Thanksgiving Day dinner that left me full of joy.
My mom makes the best turkey ever. She buys it at least a week before thanksgiving. First, she marinates the turkey a day before with her special mix of sauces and spices. Then, the next day she stuffs and cooks it for a couple hours. Every year it comes out juicy and full of flavor. Also, she makes her famous Mediterranean rice, she cooks it about an hour before its time to eat. She adds her own mix of spices, then when it’s done and ready to be served, she adds peas, carrots and roasted pine nuts. I look forward to thanksgiving each year because my mom makes the most delicious turkey and her famous Mediterranean
I noticed the note on my pillow that you had given me and it made me think about how grateful I am to have caring parents like you two. I just wanted to say thank you, and all you and Mom have done for me. I could not be who I am without the support you have given me. You say that you are proud of me, but I don’t think you know how much that really means to me. I see all of these other kids and their families and all I can think about is how grateful I am to have you guys as my family. The ones with a brain in their heads, and the thoughtfulness to put letters on their son’s pillows and lunchboxes.
Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks to your life and everyone and everything in it. Thanksgiving is thought of in different ways and is celebrated in unlike ways. Families have divergent meals, places that they visit on Thanksgiving, and activities that they enjoy taking part in on Thanksgiving. Overall, no matter what traditions there are, what meals you have, or the activities enjoyed on Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving is truly a wonderful holiday.
Thanksgiving is a time when all my worries melt away and an illusionary warmth engulfs my very being. The entire family gathers and we prepare a meal worthy of a king; there is no other holiday aside from Christmas that is greeted with such a feast. It is a means for all of us to gather, give thanks, and enjoy life’s little things. Or rather, the things that seem little to us while remaining quite a thing to behold in the shadows of one’s own mind. It would be truly a sin to pry away the shelter that encases a sad reality about the meal bestowed upon us.
This event brings us unity, delight, and noble testimony as a family and a faith community. On this Thanksgiving day, we are thankful for all that You give us, for all that You do for us and for all you that You teach us.
Thanksgiving is an important holiday when the Native Americans and the Pilgrims feasted on their crops. Correspondingly, we have a feast every Thanksgiving. Although Thanksgiving seems to be about dining on a great feast, the holiday is veritably about being thankful for everything you have. I’ve encountered entertainment, provision, and a family, but most importantly, I’ve encountered Jesus.
