Society constantly bombards us with messages all around. We are constantly being entertained, in ways whether we realize it or not. Entertainment grabs our attention, whether it’s in the form of television, video games or social media. And human beings, being the suckers for wanting to be entertained, are easily drawn to whatever catches their eyes. Sometimes what our eyes see can be totally harmless, but other times what we intake can have really drastic effects to our souls and minds whether we realize it or not. Entertainment and the atrocity that it can have, is like a bed bug infestation taking over your room. We have to ask if what we are watching is okay? Is what our eyes are seeing okay? If what we are learning from Hollywood is good? Will this be pleasing to the Lord? Hebrews 5:13-14 says, “for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the world of righteousness, since he is a child. But sold food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.” So basically Paul is saying that discernment comes from trying to figure out good and evil. Furthermore, 1 Timothy 1:19 tells us, “holding faith and good conscience. By rejecting this, some have made shipwreck of their faith.” In his radio program titled Grace to You John MacArthur says, “Movies, for example, are usually rated according to language, violence, sexual content, and thematic elements. Many of them are not just non-Christian, they are anti-Christian. I don’t mean that they openly attack the Christian faith. But at least in some cases they might as well.
