The Scarlet Letter The book I read was called The Scarlet Letter. Nathaniel Hawthorne's is the author of The Scarlet Letter; this book was published in 1850. I will be talking about how colors deal with the story. Pictures can say a million things. Symbols, reactions, and words are how people characterize themselves. Emotions can be shown through colors. Certain colors can have good or bad meanings, but they are all opinions. The Scarlet Letter is a book evolved around colors. The color usage in the book helps create imagery. The Scarlet Letter is all about emotions being mixed around. There are a lot of different colors used in the story.

Hester’s personality is grey too. She is deeply ashamed of herself for committing adultery. The community she lived in made her feel worst about what she did. She doesn’t like attention and her having her daughter pearl makes matters harder emotionally. Hester doesn’t want Pearl to grow up and be like her. She also tries to hide her true emotions from Pearl. The baby Pearl is also the result of her cheating on her lost husband at the time. If any man loses his wife if would make him upset even if he didn’t love her, the point is its still his wife. Hester’s husband Roger Chillingworth is looking for answers to where his wife is and why she left him. He later finds out she’s cheating on him and seeks revenge. He starts to spy to find answers to what’s going on, then he find out that he’s distant wife had a daughter Pearl he knows he’s not the father he now he’s attention if toward finding the father of Pearl. Hester has always be trapped in situations she uncomfortable with. Her personality was grey ever since the book introduced her. She was married to a man she never loved. I ask myself, why would she marry a person she doesn’t love in the first place? When Dimmesdale publicly tells the town Pearl was his daughter. Gold shows power strength and intelligence. Dimmesdale telling the town show he is strong enough to deal with the consequences of his actions. He’s sacrifice was huge he put his life on the line for a lady he probably wouldn’t have a future with, that shows strength. Him making that decision could affect more than one person it could affect Hester, pearl and the former husband as well. Hester being able to push though the judgement on her shows how strong she is.
