Something that clearly defines me as a person and that I believe in (and try to do) is, treating others, the way I would want to be treated. There are some values and limitations that I have that are connected to “The Golden Rule”. In this essay I will discuss a few of these values and limitations.
What do I value?
There are many things that I value in life, but a few of them are respect, honesty, and helpfulness. Respect is important to me because we all have value, meaning we all need each other in some way. Even though we may have different beliefs, and views we still need each other in order to grow in life, especially when it comes to the work environment. If we don’t respect each other’s differences, then the company would not be a great place to work for. Honesty is important to me because it builds trust. Honesty is also important in the workplace because if our employers, and coworkers are honest about what they say and do, and we do the same, then we’ll know that we can rely on each other. Being dishonest leads to doubt, which isn’t needed in the workplace. Helpfulness is something that I do not take lightly. I value the time that people take to do something for me, or with me, and also tell me things I need to

A couple of these things are, taking advantage of someone and bullying. The book talks about how credit card companies “misled consumers who could not easily follow the jargon of long and complex agreements” (Jennings, 2015). The credit card companies would take advantage of college students because they knew that the students would need the money. Doing this is manipulation to get what you want without any regard for others feelings or personal situation. Taking advantage of someone is also another form of bullying. Which is something else that I wouldn’t do for power money, or security. Belittling someone, making someone feel less than themselves or others is
Promoting the same values across all working relationships: recognising respect, patience, honesty, reliability, resilience and integrity are qualities valued by children, young people, their families and colleagues.
Honesty plays a vital role in my personal code of ethics requiring integrity, especially in dealing with those near and dear to me. Integrity plays a vital role in my ability to hold myself accountable for any decisions or actions I make.
* Respect. Respect each individual with the same respect as you would like to be respected.
A few core values that I place importance on in my life are responsibility and reliability. Respecting others is an extremely important value. I believe we all have a responsibility to be respectful because the respect that others are given is what is returned to you. I respect my teachers and do all
In Jim Yerman’s concerning “The Golden Rule,” the reader is presented with the notion that each of us is responsible for doing right by others. Whether or not we are treated well,we can still choose to do the right thing, even if that means to withhold what we want to say or do. This notion of self-control is found as Yerman’s poem begins. In stanzas 1-3, Yerman discusses how people can be “inhumane and cruel,”how the world is at war with each other, and how people struggle everyday just to put food in their mouths.
Respect is holding something or someone in high regard. Respect has an impact on all aspects of my life, both personally and professionally. As a personal value, respect is twofold; I must respect everyone around me as well as respecting myself. I will demonstrate respect for others by treating everyone equally and without judgement. I will listen and be considerate of the opinions and values of others, regardless of conflicting opinions. I will respect myself by dressing modestly and not objectifying myself as a woman. I will not engage in any unethical behaviour that may compromise my personal morals and values.
My first personal value that will impact my work as a social worker is respect. In terms of social work and ability to influence my additional values, respect is the most important. For me, respect means to honor others and appreciate their perspective. While my definition of respect may seem simple, its usefulness is multifaceted. One may respect a person, a place, a situation, a circumstance, etc. I learned concepts of respect as a child as my parents were teaching me to observe boundaries. They wanted me to respect my room, and keep it clean, and they explained to me how they respected my personal space. In return, my parents taught me to respect their boundaries, their room, and
However, it is my belief that if I lead my shipmates based on the same principles that I value personally, my leadership capabilities will be accepted as genuine and understood as progressive. Values I value respect as a behavior that allows for open communication, which, in turn manifests trust. Respect is a willingness to be accepting of ideas different from our own and acknowledge that those ideas are
Respect is an important element in effective communication, and the development of a relationship. Actively listening to another person’s point of view or opinion, remembering personal details, showing an interest and responding in an appropriate manner, all show that you have listened and placed importance upon what has been said, which leads to positive relationships and respectful, effective communication.
It is important for me to be honest to myself and to others. Honesty is another code of ethic that is dear to me. Honesty to me
I define respect as the ability to recognize and regard a person's boundaries, limits, and autonomy in both their personal and professional spheres of life. Appropriate interactions are based on this definition of respect. A senior
Everyone wants to be respected. It’s in our nature, but in order to obtain respect, first of all one has to respect oneself. Second, one has to show respect to others in order to gain respect from them. If one doesn’t show respect to someone, that person may often feel blown off and lose respect for you. Respect in my eyes is like a math equation loyalty plus duty equals respect. respect is gained in conducting ones self in a way that others can stand
Respecting is a very kind thing to do for other patients and people around you. Each day when I walk to work, first thing first I will respect people and take good care of my patient with respect.
The truth is that, these traits are becoming rare in careers. Having respect and the right attitude at work wil help a person to develop not only at work but in life as well.
Respect is an important value to be taught when growing up. Through the years I have learned that in order to learn anything you must have respect for others. I have learned many valuable lessons from listening to my grandmother. She has told me many of her experiences, which has made me a better person. Having respect for other people has allowed me to be more open-minded and see qualities in people that most would not. I have always listened to what my friends and family has to say. That doesn’t always mean that I agree with them, but it is their opinion, so I respect it. In return I receive respect from them. As people begin to respect me more their trust in me also grows.
