August 16th,2017 was my first day being in Avid, I was kind of nervous because I never heard of this class. When I went to sign up for school I seen it on my schedule and I was really confused on what type of class it was. After I left from signing up for school I went home and searched Avid up. I was actually interested in everything I seen so I thought to myself that this would be a great class for me. When I first started the class I was taking quizzes and I really didn’t pass those quizzes. At first I was having a hard time with my work but then we started to have tutorial groups and I started to get a better understanding. During the first couple of weeks we basically talked about the stuff we was going to be doing in Avid and taking a couple of test just to see what we knew so far about Avid. We talked about cornell notes, binder checks, tutorial groups, and Avid probation. I thought I would get kicked out of Avid when Mrs.Martinez said probation but then she told me it’s …show more content…
I never could get get a good grade on a cornell note check, the highest grade I’ve ever had was a C or B. I start to get a hang of it but then we started to do binder checks which meant I didn’t have a choice but to do cornell notes. I had to make sure my tabs was labeled, my cornell notes was completed, my planner had my assignments in it, and my recent grades was in there. I’m so happy that’s over , at first it was kind of tough but then after a while it was easy, and sometimes I got B’s but most of the time I got A’s on my binder. The other thing we did usually was tutorial groups which meant I had to make sure my TRF was complete every Tuesday and Thursday. I didn’t always do that so my grade in Avid start dropping but I noticed why not do it when it’s not even a hard assignment, it’s a easy A, and it helps you get a better understanding about your point of confusion in many different
the correct resources or were they just adequate, was I clear on the learning objective, did I talk too
Avid has been interesting for me this year. I was depressed and didn't want to live anymore but Avid helped me get out of that, and by tha I mean everyone punched me in my stomach for acting so stupid , but I’m grateful that they did that. It taught me to actually take notes properly for the first time in my life. How to rely on others for help when I needed it most. Most importantly, how to not be so anti-social. I would say it improved the way I interact with others, and thats something I really needed.
During the first day of class the professor informed the class that we were going to be
I am sorry I did not arrive to school prepared for the AVID Career Project. It was due to poor time management on my part. My failure to not come prepared is disrespectful to you; myself; my parents, and CMI. Everyone had two weeks to work on this project I managed to finish the paper packet in half of the first week, however I became overconfident during the last week and I could have completed the project. Instead on focusing on helping others finishing their projects I should have finished mine first. Additionally, I must admit, my ego got the best of me and became prejudicial. I suffered the consequences of not attending the field trip of University of San Marcos; resulting in, shame upon me and my parents who expect me to perform
I looked at it and it told me to go to a certain room, when i got there i got greeted by a teacher who would be my avid teacher in the future. Once everyone was there we went outside and sat in the grass and he explained what the avid program was, and how we would get to travel to colleges and learn about how to get into college; but what he forgot to mention was the wonderful thing called tutorials. When i got home that day i explained to my parents what i was told about this program and encouraged me to join. Next year i got my schedule and i saw that i have avid when the time came to go to avid i was nervous because i didn't know anyone but
Because I was so focused on getting the help I needed to be successful in college, I was willing to learn the material on my own from the 9th and 10th grade AVID course to join the class as a junior. Before AVID, I did not have a strong passion to learn because I was not engaged in class. However after learning how to take organized notes and to ask in depth questions, I developed a desire to learn new academic concepts. I challenged my learning capabilities by enrolling myself in difficult AP and Honors courses offered at my high school. These classes would also prepare me for studying at the collegiate level.
We all gave advice to each other, especially the people how are going threw the same things together. Everyone gives everyone input. The instructor went on with the meeting asking questions about how else they can improve their lives. One guys shouted “Not to do drugs”. Of course that’s a good way to improve your life, stay away from those drugs. They will do nothing but bad for you and your body, and your mind. They mess up your
From day one, I noticed the relative ease of the course. The two friendly instructors welcomed the entire class, and they presented the material in a simple and comprehensible manner. My seven classmates and I bonded immediately. I recall
I consider these notes as a part of achievement not only because I received a good grade on them but because I worked hard. For anyone who has taken an AP History class, it consists of a lot of work and memorizing. It's homework that takes up to four hours or more. The AP final exam has an 11% passing rate nation wide. Taking notes weekly and for a long time has taught me some new skills on how to be a better note taker. I myself have noticed how much my note taking skills have improved.
Hello, I am Anahi Ceballos-Tapia and I am currently 13 years old. When I’ve first heard about the AVID program, I was very skeptical about what this program benefits. After asking which program would suit me the best for my future education, I’ve chosen to participate in this particular program. I feel that I have the skills and determination to have this course in Everett Alvarez High School. Therefore, I would like to be enrolled in AVID for various reasons. My foremost reason on why I want to be enrolled in AVID program is considering that it will help me tremendously on my academics in school, which would apply to helping me learn how to be successful all the way through college. Secondly, I would like to be in AVID since this class can
Anyhow, I am in the AVID program with Mr. Savitz which I believe is a wonderful environment to be in. I did not have the fortune to be in Mrs. Beltran's class last year but I would love to exchange stories with you sometime this week (or next week). Maybe we can talk a couple minutes the mornings? I hope u have a great night.
When I sat down, removed my calculator, three number two pencils, and my admission ticket, I started to relax more and more. As the supervisor of the classroom handed out the book of questions along with the answer sheet, I thought to myself, “what if I get a bad score like before?” I knew I wasn’t the best test taker, but I just had to keep telling myself to try my hardest and just see how it goes. As the supervisor said “you have 45 minutes to complete this section of the test, you may start,” I gripped the pencil with my hand, and began to read the question and fill in the best answer of four options.
Lastly having a graded contract and non-traditional assessment made me the class more enjoyable. It’s great to not worry about the traditional A-F grade because I stopped obsessing over the grade I would receive on assignments but rather started to look forward to feedback from colleagues and from professor Martens. I started to focus on improving myself as a writer and the content that I was writing. I was still able to work hard and see improvement in my writing without receiving a letter grade. The grading contract overall made the class enjoyable for me because I was more engaged in what I was learning and the burden of just focusing on just grades was taken off and even though the grades mattered, in the end, I feel like I took more out
There were many visions for this edit, however the main objective was produce a sequence with music, Foley and dialogue that could convey the emotions of the scene which included love, heartbreak, frustration and confusion. To achieve this intended vision the editing program ‘Avid” and its tools including the audio mixer, effects pallet and key frames were used to efficiently to cohesively and smoothly edit the sequence.
So at the beginning of the year I was assigned to be an Office Aide but then I was switched be and assistant technician to help Edgar. I organized, delivered, and counted technology pieces from our inventory at ASTEC. I started to enjoy helping Edgar more and more as the year went on. But I was nailing this elective like nothing. I was told what to do and I executed it perfectly, without a problem. I think I have just enough expertise with technology to know what I’m dealing with at all times. I am a person who knows how to manage time and
