Totalitarianism can most readily be described as a political system in which the state regulates nearly every aspect of public and private life. If one accepts this construct, the countries of Italy, Russia, and Germany are equally totalitarian in their aims and offer us some of the most remarkable examples of totalitarian regimes in modern history.
