The civilization of Ancient Egypt is known for its amazing achievements in a whole range of fields, including art and architecture, engineering, medicine and statecraft. At 5500 BCE two big kingdoms developed along the Nile. Historians call them Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt. Egypt was brought together under one leader about 3200 BCE.
Throughout Egypt's history beliefs and practices were always changing though the topics of fertility, rebirth, death and resurrection usually stayed constant. The ancient Egyptians had a tendency to merge new beliefs with the old ones rather than simply replace them. This tendency has made it difficult for new students to fully understand the ancient beliefs. We know of hundreds of gods and goddesses respect by the ancient Egyptians as their names, personalities and their aspects have survived in the artwork the human development left behind. It rose in 6 stages and is called the step pyramid. It was generally to show a big stairway for the king to climb to join the sun-god in the sky. Later on kings had step pyramids too, but in the rule of King Sneferu the correct pyramid with tilting sides developed. The plan of this pyramid was to make the mound that had come out of the watery ground at the beginning of time, on which the sun-god stood and brought the other gods and goddesses into being. If I had to say one thing ancient Egyptians were famous for it was that they built tremendous pyramids and had a great amount of skill. Some pyramids still exist and it is amazing how they built them and are still standing today. In the civilization of Ancient Egypt, there were six periods which were the Pre-dynastic period, Old Kingdom, the 1st Intermediate period, the Middle Kingdom, the 2nd Intermediate period, and New Kingdom (TimeMaps). The Pre-dynastic period began in 3500-3000 BC and led to the unified group of Egypt as a community. The Old Kingdom began in 2650 which was around the time that the Great Pyramids of Giza were being built. A man named Narmer was the founder of the 1st dynasty of Ancient Egypt and was looked at as a god. Narmer was mainly known for his hieroglyphic writing and his monuments. The pyramids of Giza consist of three pyramids created on “a rocky plateau on the west bank of the Nile River near Al-Jīzah (Giza) in northern Egypt during the 4th-dynasty (c. 2575–c. 2465 BCE).” The northernmost is the oldest pyramid which was built for Khufu, the second king of the 4th dynasty, which was called the Great Pyramid, because it's the largest of the three. The length of each side of the base is about 755.75 feet and its original height being 481.4 feet. The middle pyramid belonged to, Khafre, the fourth out of eight kings in the 4th dynasty and measures 707.75 feet on each side and was originally 471 feet high. The last pyramid to be built was Menkaure’s, who was the fifth king of the 4th dynasty. His measured out to be 356.5 feet and a height of 218 feet.
