People respond to natural disasters with bravery in dangerous situations and compassion for those victims in need. I disagree and agree to some parts of it. It really depends on the situation and who they consider the hero. On the other hand when natural disasters occur a lot people go to help those in need. I disagree with the bravery part because their are a lot of people who could and do not help. When you see people on the news about how brave they were that's only one person. I think to say that people are brave is wrong because, you only have that hand full of people that actually were brave. When most of the people just want to get help for themselves and not help others. I agree with part where people are compassionate
Bravery does not measure how big or small the situation might be, but it defines the person who is overcoming their fear. Each
The Evidence shows that my quote is saying there is responsibility and courage when being a hero. “Yes, anyone can be a hero. You just can’t think about it, you just have do what your heart to help,” What Makes a Hero. This quote says you need to do what your heart says, this could be a big responsibility.
It can be easy to distinguish the difference between a hero, survivor, and a victim. In the article Haiti after the earthquake by Paul Farmer, it clearly shows who the main hero is in the article which is Farmer himself. Without his going out of his way to help every patient he could then many of the patients at the General Hospital wouldn’t have been able to survive. Although Farmer is the main person discussed helping people in the article, he wouldn’t be able to help as many people if he didn’t have the resources provided by the hospital or other people. There are many survivors of the earthquake, such as many residents. Although they were injured by the earthquake, they were not going to let that stop them from continuing to try to stay
Are there heroes in today’s society? No one thinks of themselves as a hero, but it does not take any special skills to be a hero because anyone can be a hero. The characteristics of a hero only show up when there is a time of need such as a major catastrophe or minor incidents that happen on a daily basis. During the twenty-first century there have been quite a few major catastrophes. The major catastrophes include the 9/11 attacks, two major hurricanes (Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Sandy), and the Boston marathon bombing. There are also several different major and minor characteristics that a hero will show in times of need. For instance some major characteristics of a hero are perseverance/determination, bravery/courage, dedication/endurance, and selflessness/sacrifice. Some minor characteristics include humility, fearlessness, skill, strength, integrity, and intrepidity (Wanamaker, 2013). In the twenty-first century the 9/11 attacks is the first major catastrophe. During this major disaster there were quite a few individuals who helped to rescue people. There were heroes in each of the three crash sites that occurred on that very eventful day.
The man in the water is responsible for saving many people, but he didn’t have training to save people like a firefighter or police officer. The man in the water was an ordinary civilian with no rescue training. That makes him more courageous than the trained first responders; they had training and preparation, he didn’t. Just like that any person can become a hero whether or not you are a passenger on flight 90 a bystander in a disaster or just a friendly neighbor who helps out you never know how your contribution will help. Small acts of courage save
anyone else agree with that statement? Everyone is born with true bravery but it’s up to them if they will show it and a couple did. For example Atticus Finch and Martin Luther king jr, they both stood up for what they believe in and what was right. They never backed down they had the confidence to stand up and they did, stood tall and brave. Atticus Finch stood up for Tom Robinson. Martin Luther King Jr stood up for black rights. Rosa Parks, a very courageous woman in the civil rights. Tom Robinson was also a brave person. He shows courage on the witness stand. These people showed great courage because they never backed down they did what was right and what they believed in.
Secondly, public safety personnel. Are the hero’s? This includes fire fighter, rescue medic and police officers. The best example of all three of these public personnel, I would have to say, would have to been the event that took place on September 11, 2001. It was a clear Tuesday morning around 8:45 a.m. when two plain hit the World Trade Center in New York City. Instantly killing hundreds of people and trapping hundreds while the tower crumbed to the ground. While millions fled from the scene, millions watched the events unfolding. The hero’s in this story are the ones that ran to the tower, the rescue the ones that were trapped and help the injured.
There were and are many people who are courageous and have changed our world completely. Like Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr. and many others. To be courageous means to be smart, strong, and fearless. There are and were many people that are very courageous. They did many things for people and stood up for their right, even if they were going to get in trouble for it. Those people are heroes.
America is a gorgeous country, from her tall rocky mountains to her marvelous oceans. America has fought through the worst of battles, but she always comes out triumphant. America is a place where many individuals call home. She is a symbol of hope, acceptance, and new life. For years, people have been coming to her borders, looking for safety. America is an example to the world, of what a country should be to her people. America holds history, shows the present, and predicts the future. America is always moving forward; she is never content to stand still. However, America could not make all these changes by herself; it is her people that call themselves Americans that make her so great. American is an extremely generalized word. What makes
In my opinion, soldiers and any man or woman who participates in the United States Army is a hero one way or another. Whether they serve in the Army, Navy, Airforce, or the USMC, they are all willing to make sacrifices for others. Also, cops and firefighters should be considered heroes, they go to work every day not knowing if they will make it home or not. My uncle, Albert is a firefighter and paramedic, he has saved lives as a paramedic and even though he did not risk his life; he saved somebody else. That to me is an excellent example
Countless tornadoes touch down every year here in America. On rare occasions, the tornado rips right through the middle of a city. Immediately after the dust has settled, help is on the way. National Guard troops are sent in to bring water, food, and provide help wherever they can find it. Neighbors help each other look for missing people and console one another. Fires also are inevitable to pop up in the desert and mountain areas during the summer months. In these situations, firefighters are the ones who help a lot. Most firefighters are volunteers and have the choice to not even help at all. But they know that they are doing the right thing helping people that really need it. In all these instances where the earth is cruel to its people, forms of help will always
Heroes do what's right, even if they put themselves in danger. For example, in everyday life, people like firemen, paramedics and soldiers risk their lives for the common people every day. Heroes are willing to give something up for the greater good of others.
“A hero is no braver than an ordinary man,but he is brave five minutes longer”.(Ralph waldo Emerson)Some people might think being a hero is all about flying, super strength, and just having special abilities, when it really isn't. Being a hero is all about helping people when being bullied or standing up for your rights and having bravery in your mind and courage. Hero’s take risk, they aren't cowards, and they show lots of bravery. Heros put other people's feelings into to their shoes and show their empathy towards they. They don't let the go through things alone.
Heroes are not always people who lead marches or do things for their country. For example policemen, firefighters, nurses, lifeguards etc. are heroes everyday because they take the time to save lives. When they’re going through a challenge or trying to overcome a conflict they always have courage. These people risk their own life to save someone else’s. To be more specific Dr. Ginger Holt from Dallas had saved a little boy’s leg. She was confident and determined to finding out what went wrong in the boy’s leg and went through many procedures looking at the tests.
Heroes have many goals and many challenges, but whether they are successful or not is a whole different story. Always trying their best to achieve their certain goal and risking to help others is what heroes live for. For example, during the attacks of 9/11, boat drivers such as were rescuing people from the island of Manhattan in New York. There were thousands upon thousands of people, but with enough support, the boat drivers were able to rescue everybody. Vincent Ardolino, one of the boat drivers during the 9/11 boatlift, said in the documentary “Boatlift” that he tells his children to “never go through life saying you should have. If you want to do something, do it.” This mindset is what all heroes should adopt for the future. These people may not have the most difficult job in the world, but they carry out small challenges with a lot of passion. Likewise, were the heroes during Hurricane Harvey and Irma, two very devastating Hurricanes that have costed the USA many lives. Many people from outside of the area have done countless things to help like rescue people with their boats, donate money, and help rebuild. Many of these heroes have risked their lives and struggled on for the greater good.
