Family systems theory is a theory that describes human behaviour within the context of a family. This concept of family members being connected and influencing each other is called interdependence, and is a main component of family systems theory. It is the nature in the family that its members are intensely connected emotionally. This means that family members has an effect on the other member’s thoughts, feelings due to certain actions being said or done and that these effects are reciprocal. These emotional interdependence presumably evolved to promote the cohesiveness and cooperation families require to protect, shelter, and feed their members. Sometimes interdependence might give problems within the family because of their needs or expectations
