Fast food is a type of food service that offers fast, tasty and on the go meals. It is the term given to food that can be prepared and served very quickly. It is convenient and ready to consume, but it does not guarantee that it is nutritionally balanced and healthy. Fast food restaurants provide us food with food content that gives us very little nutritious content. Fast food is getting more in demand as we know it, resulting to the growth of the fast food industry.
To give clarity to this research, the researcher uses the following definitions.
Fast food is a “variety of food that offers convenient, tasty and faster service”. (Sampateek, 2016) Fast food menu items contain “food additives and a preservative” does not guarantee that it is nutritionally balanced and healthy. According to Sampateek (2016), we are in modern times where everything is fast moving and mobile. So people prefer foods eaten while doing their stuffs, like while working, driving or watching movie. Food served is within reach. A few walk from your home or office. They are everywhere and available anytime of the day. If you are living alone, it is most likely that you will buy your meals from fast food. Some would think it’s cheaper to buy food because most fast food chains offer different meals that would fit within your budget.
On the other hand, most fast food items have food additives and preservatives which can cause cell damage and may lead to certain types of cancer if taken in excessive amount or frequently (Sampateek, 2016). Most fast food items are usually cooked in fat like French Fries and Donuts, which makes these foods calorie dense. Eating such can lead to undesirable weight gain and many other health
