FIRST LOVE “First Love” is the poem which was written by John Clare in the 19th century. John Clare was born in 1793 Helpston in rural Northamptonshire. Although, he was the son of a farmer and almost illiterate parents. He received the formal education. He grew up in the Northamptonshire hamlet of Helpston and made the surrounding countryside his world. He was praised as one of the most important poets of the natural world. Later, he spent the final 20 years in the hospital because he has mental illnesses. He was succeeded in many poems, essays, journals and letters about love, corruption, politics, environmental and social etc. One of the famous poem about love that he wrote is First Love. John Clare describe first time when he met her. “I” in the start of first stanza the writer refer to himself for the reader to be easy understanding. Moreover, in line two “With love so sudden and so sweet” it has a full rhyme in voiced /s/ sound. Sibilant whisper pronunciation is the ability to use the language of the author has. This love that he found in this moment it has an idea promptly for him. “sweet” this word refer to smell the sweetness of love that imageries to olfactory and gustatory is love that sweet have an understanding. “bloomed” I refer to her smile, her face had a beautiful smile like flowers. This love may be unrequited as like a season that has to change every time. That now loving cannot manage it. “love’s bed” refer to marriage the person who sleep to same bed there must get marriage and attended a religious ceremony correctly to be treated as a married couple. “snow” refer to cold which cold occurred it is a barrier of love. It does not have a warmth to maintain the love that results to a love unrequited. As if she would hear me in peace. It expresses my feelings are grieving. Not love beg her to know.
