This beautiful work is done by Frida Kahlo, the artwork itself being called ‘Thinking About Death’. The date is was made was in 1943 it is 44cm x 37cm and its medium in oil paint. The artwork is now kept in (Insert here). This artwork is very disturbing but gracious at the same time. Whilst being bedridden Frida had lots of time to spare and must of had death on her mind at most points in time. While she is representing her feelings (thinking about death) which is quite disturbing she had also incorporated the luscious green background of leaves, this can often be a symbol that she believes with one end can be a new beginning, meaning that even though she may being dying she will start a new life after her death. Frida Kahlo as an artist is very expressive and emotional in her artworks she makes a point of making sure that nothing is left out. For example in this artwork the focal point could be her moustache and monobrow, these features are not usually seen in artworks but Frida believes that she is beautiful the way she is and seems to make a point out of representing herself as a whole person and not leaving anything out of her self portraits. Frida has done a wonderful job of communicating her emotions and this artwork is clearly read and understood. After the bus accident that Frida was involved in she experienced many problems and health complications therefore limiting her time to enjoy her life, this may be the reason she chooses to paint and be so expressive in her artworks. She really shares all her emotions, feelings and expression when painting and really shares her story in her time of sickness and pain. This relates to the point that although Frida was going through a rough stage in her life she believed that there was still happiness and adventure out there for her and there was a life to enjoy after
