Introduction. I chose this battle because I had been hearing about the attack on Pearl Harbor, but I did not know much about it. This paper talks about the countries that fought in this battle, where the battle was fought, what the geography was like during the battle, what the weather was like, what happened during this battle, how many casualties occurred, other things I learned about the battle, who won the battle, and how the battle was important to WWII.

A month preliminary to the attack, Japan sent a plenipotentiary to Washington to arrange the nation’s expansions in Asia. Although if the United States didn’t accept this aggression, Japan was ready to launch a surprise attack. President Roosevelt launched bombs to the Philippines between the Japanese and Dutch oil fields, before they had sent the plenipotentiary. They were a bombing blitz that destroyed 188 U.S. aircraft, had sunken 4 U.S. Navy battleships, and killed more than 2400 Americans with an additional 1,100 injured.

No matter what their loyalty or citizenship they were forced to get up and go to camps established in either California, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, and Arkansas. After all said and done this ended up at over one hundred and twenty thousand japanese americans. Sadly most Americans don 't know why they were moved from their homes, how they were removed, and how they were treated within these camps.

This event is one of the single most important events in American history proving that the Japanese armed services may have been strategically stronger and more powerful at one time. The United States was not involved in WWII; that began with Germany invading Poland. The attack on Pearl Harbor, however, led to the United States’ involvement in World War II. It also brought with it the invention of the atomic bomb, one of the world’s deadliest weapons.

What caused the bombing of Pearl Harbor? The reason the attack happen is because Japanese- American had a problem with the Pacific. Pearl Harbor took place in Hawaii and ended December 7, 1941. The V-J Day came from the World War II. Military left they were given free passes to go to a religious place. “Five of eight battleships, three destroyers, and seven other ships were sunk or severely damaged, and more than 200 aircraft were destroyed. A total of 2,400 Americans were killed and 1,200 were wounded, many while valiantly attempting to repulse the attack. Japan’s losses were some 30 planes, five midget submarines, and fewer than 100 men.” The next day after the Pearl Harbor was attacked President Roosevelt wanted a session dealing with Congress and declared, “Yesterday, December 7, 1941–a date which will live in infamy–the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.”

On December 7th, 1941, Pearl Harbor was attacked persistently by the Japanese air force. On that terrible day many Americans died because of the attack, and even more people were injured. This timorous attack on Pearl Harbor angered the United States and immediately brought us into the war. The United States would be determined to bring down the axis powers. This was the start of World War II.

“Tora! Tora! Tora!” directly translating to: “Tiger! Tiger! Tiger!” A message Commander Mitsuo Fuchida sent on December 7, 1941 at 7:53 a.m. to his attack force informing them that executive order 9066 which authorized the removal of 110,000 Japanese and Japanese-Americans to ten internment camps on the mainland. However, none of the internees were ever convicted of any crimes against the U.S.they had taken the U.S Pacific completely by surprise. The attack on Pearl Harbor lasted two hours killing 2,335 servicemen and leaving many more wounded.

The Japanese had plans to make their way across the South Pacific, and they knew that, in order to do so, the American naval fleet at Pearl Harbor must be demolished.

After the Pearl Harbor attack, many of the brothels were converted into makeshift hospitals. Consequently, the prostitutes left the brothels and moved to new locations, but within a year the police wanted to reinforce the old restrictions. However, with their newfound freedom in hand, this group of prostitutes picketed in front of the local police headquarters. They also organized a labor strike for 22 days in June of 1942 and it forced the police to compromise on their restrictions. However, this more liberal system was eventually discontinued in 1944 due to an order by the Governor of Hawaii.
