The attack on Pearl Harbor was a long, well thought out, complex plan, and the mastermind of the operation was Isoroku Yamamoto. Isoroku Yamamoto made “the Japanese plan simple: Destroy the Pacific Fleet. That way, the Americans would not be able to fight back as Japan’s armed forces spread across the South Pacific” (“Pearl Harbor”). Yamamoto planned to take out the battleships instead of the carriers, because the American public viewed battleships as a naval power. So if they were destroyed it would, America’s morale would be damaged. However, the final plan resulted with the difference of opinions with Genda, the air power expert.Genda wanted to focus the attack on taking out the carriers. Months before the attack, Japanese used radios as
December 7, 1941: Attacks on Pearl Harbor: Around November 25, the US intercepted a message of an imminent attack on US soil. In addition, Japan started to move its navy towards Hawaii. Washington’s response to this was a warning to Hawaii, indicating the anticipated attack. However, on December 7, 1941, a fleet on Japanese bombers approached Pearl Harbor with the intent to bomb the navy port. US navy ships were left defenseless as the Japanese torpedoes starting to sink them. Within two hours, US lost eight battleships, two cruisers, and more than a hundred planes. About two thousand soldiers died and one thousand were injured. As a result of this attack, President Roosevelt addressed the Congress, asking for the declaration of war. On
Introduction. I chose this battle because I had been hearing about the attack on Pearl Harbor, but I did not know much about it. This paper talks about the countries that fought in this battle, where the battle was fought, what the geography was like during the battle, what the weather was like, what happened during this battle, how many casualties occurred, other things I learned about the battle, who won the battle, and how the battle was important to WWII.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered his war speech and asserted December 7, 1941 as, “a date which will live in infamy.” The United States’ naval bases stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii were struck by Japanese planes intentionally and promptly. The news of this attack on the Pearl Harbor shocked the world. It was devastating to the nation that were still in the throes of depression. Witnesses of this event painted a portrait of a nation stunned, but determined to rise again. The United States’ government had not disclosed a Pearl Harbor story to the public--that the U.S. had failed to act on advance information about a planned Japanese attack. Japan 's move against the United States was audacious enough to be considered no more than a slight possibility, although the potential for an attack had been widely discussed.
On December 7th, 1941 Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japan. On this horrific day over 2,400 Americans were killed by the bombs that the Japanese had dropped. A month preliminary to the attack, Japan sent a plenipotentiary to Washington to arrange the nation’s expansions in Asia. Although if the United States didn’t accept this aggression, Japan was ready to launch a surprise attack. President Roosevelt launched bombs to the Philippines between the Japanese and Dutch oil fields, before they had sent the plenipotentiary. On December 7, 1941 -- the day that will always be commemorated as “the date which will live in infamy” by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt -- the Japanese unexpectedly attacked the United States’ naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. This crippling attack caused many American casualties, and American citizens quickly became filled with fury and abhorrence; the detestation that swallowed the hearts of the American citizens was shown through President Roosevelt’s expeditious appeal to Congress to declare war against Japan. The attack on Pearl Harbor was an unforgettable day in history and directly affected the United States involvement in World War Two and the patriotism of the United States’ citizens.
After the attack on Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941, President Franklin Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 which made every person of japanese heritage on the east coast uproot and move to ten different internment camps. No matter what their loyalty or citizenship they were forced to get up and go to camps established in either California, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, and Arkansas. After all said and done this ended up at over one hundred and twenty thousand japanese americans. Sadly most Americans don 't know why they were moved from their homes, how they were removed, and how they were treated within these camps.
The attack on Pearl Harbor is known today as a horrible event brought on by revenge and Japan’s need for control. This event is one of the single most important events in American history proving that the Japanese armed services may have been strategically stronger and more powerful at one time. The United States was not involved in WWII; that began with Germany invading Poland. The attack on Pearl Harbor, however, led to the United States’ involvement in World War II. It also brought with it the invention of the atomic bomb, one of the world’s deadliest weapons.
What caused the bombing of Pearl Harbor? The reason the attack happen is because Japanese- American had a problem with the Pacific. Pearl Harbor took place in Hawaii and ended December 7, 1941. The V-J Day came from the World War II. Pearl Harbor came from native Hawaiians so their nicknames were “Wai Momi” (pearl waters). 7:55 Hawaii time a lot of action took place the Japanese had over 360 that lead them to United States naval. It was also another unknown attack that happen mad attack against the United States Pacific Fleet that bought the United States into it. That’s what made it World War II. President Roosevelt had a lot to do with the World War II. That’s how the Japanese would always try to attack the next person. Military left they were given free passes to go to a religious place. “Five of eight battleships, three destroyers, and seven other ships were sunk or severely damaged, and more than 200 aircraft were destroyed. A total of 2,400 Americans were killed and 1,200 were wounded, many while valiantly attempting to repulse the attack. Japan’s losses were some 30 planes, five midget submarines, and fewer than 100 men.” The next day after the Pearl Harbor was attacked President Roosevelt wanted a session dealing with Congress and declared, “Yesterday, December 7, 1941–a date which will live in infamy–the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.”
My paper is about the events leading up to Pearl Harbor and if the attack plans were known
Could the attack on Pearl Harbor have been prevented, or was it a completely unexpected and unavoidable event?
On December 7th, 1941, Pearl Harbor was attacked persistently by the Japanese air force. On that terrible day many Americans died because of the attack, and even more people were injured. However, none of the internees were ever convicted of any crimes against the U.S.they had taken the U.S Pacific completely by surprise. The attack on Pearl Harbor lasted two hours killing 2,335 servicemen and leaving many more wounded.
The Japanese had plans to make their way across the South Pacific, and they knew that, in order to do so, the American naval fleet at Pearl Harbor must be demolished.
After the Pearl Harbor attack, many of the brothels were converted into makeshift hospitals. Consequently, the prostitutes left the brothels and moved to new locations, but within a year the police wanted to reinforce the old restrictions. However, with their newfound freedom in hand, this group of prostitutes picketed in front of the local police headquarters. They also organized a labor strike for 22 days in June of 1942 and it forced the police to compromise on their restrictions. However, this more liberal system was eventually discontinued in 1944 due to an order by the Governor of Hawaii.
