The Iranian society tend to party a lot, they are great entertainers and highly know for their hospitality and kindness. Within the parties you have to behave politely since being loud is considered unsuitable, although once you are well known it might be suitable. Keep in mind that when new guests arrive people have to stand up except the elderly that remains seated and sometimes women will stand up when other females arrive. At meetings and parties jokes are popular although careful on what topic you joke about especially if females or elderly are present. Like many other traditional cultures respecting the elderly is very important. The elderly should always be respected, listened to and treated correctly, therefore when an older person
During September the year 2014, my family and I took a 2 day trip to Dollywood. I was just eight years old at the time. That drive took us 12 long hours long because of car problems. Finally at 10 o'clock at night, we sluggishly dragged our extremely tired selves into the comfort of our soft beds in the hotel. The next morning, we drove over to the park and just past the entrance was a special place where you can get measured and given a color coded bracelet that would let you and others know what rides you were tall enough to ride. I was so excited because I was finally tall enough to get an orange bracelet, which meant I could ride most of the rides. After riding the smaller rides with my younger siblings, my mom wanted to take me on a
Allotayah Khomeini (1902-1989) came into power after the Iranian Revolution of 1979 replacing the Shah as the supreme religious leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and was later named the political and religious leader of Iran for the rest of his life. Khomeini was able to take over due to his strong belief that Iran’s government should be returned to its traditional Islamic ways, returning it to its secular government. In the following essay I will discuss the extent of cultural and religious changes he brought to Iran during and after his reign, proving whether or not he was an effective ruler and how he changed Iran in the long run.
There are many ways in which Iranian cultural expectations are different from the western cultural expectations. They are different in regards to citizens’ rights and gender norms.
I invite my fellow Iranians to accept and defend our differences in the spirit of pluralism and tolerance, and champion the cause of human rights, secularism and democracy as a common denominating goal, above and beyond our personal, ethnic, religious and ideological variations. There can only be one real solution: change from within, and at the hand of the Iranian people, is the only legitimate, and the least costly
This paper shows cultural differences between Iranians, Chinese and Indians in business negotiations based on interviews with three businessmen: an American citizen who set up a general trading company in China, an Iranian Canadian citizen who has a trading company in Iran, and an Indian America who set up a business in India. The interview questions focused on cultural elements based on Hofstede’s research: power distance, low-high context, and general business behavior in these countries.
Persepolis is a novel which shows how an oppressive regime such as, the Iranian Revolutionaries created deep fear in Iran's ordinary citizens. However, despite this oppressive regime, the ordinary citizens of Iran still found ways to enjoy their everyday lives. These ways to enjoy their lives largely included holding secret parties which were forbidden by the regime. There are also situations in Persepolis which appointed comic relief and created scenes which were significant to the novel as a whole. One of the largest ways that the ordinary citizens of Iran enjoyed their everyday lives was to hold secret parties which were forbidden by the regime.
In my opinion, people are different because of their cultures and their norms. However, some people are more comfortable with touch than others. People shake hand in greeting but otherwise do not like to be touched at all, except by family members or lovers. For example, in North America culture, touch is interpreted as power or people with the opposite-sex can hold hands. But people in Asia, the Middle East, and South America have the opposite expectation, male friends or female friend can hold hands, but it is slightly shocking for an opposite-sex to touch in public. In Iran and Iraq, hands shakes between men and women are seen as improper.

“The man himself never stood taller than five feet, six inches tall, but in the realm of American literature, William Faulkner is a giant.”(Padgett, olemiss.edu) He was a Nobel Prize- winning novelist and a short story writer. Faulkner was acclaimed as one of the twentieth century’s greatest writers. From The Sound and the Fury in 1929 to Go Down, Moses in 1942, was considered his greatest artistic achievement and accomplished more artistically then most artists in their lifetime of writing. Zoroastrianism is defined as “an Iranian religion, founded c600 b.c. by Zoroaster, the principle beliefs of which are in the existence of a supreme deity, Ahura Mazda, and in a cosmic struggle between a spirit of good, Spenta Mainyu, and a spirit of evil, Angra Mainyu.” Zoroastrianism was founded by the Prophet Zarathustra, said to have hailed from Eastern Iran. The religion is defined by doctrines which also constitute the sacred scripture referred to as the Avestra. It was a monotheistic worship of the god Ahura Mazda and its most significant teaching was that of cosmic dualism.
Some differences in Iran and the USA, in which some have also partially changed since the 1980’s, are woman and freedoms, dress, family, religion and specific values and beliefs. Women
The cross-cultural differences in attitudes towards the aged may in part be due to different societal perspectives. In most western cultures the elderly today are hardly regarded with religious awe or reverence. They have become virtual outcasts of society, many living on the fringe, often in retirement communities or in nursing homes. William Withers states that “modern cultures have coped with the death of the aged, minimizing its disruptiveness, by disengaging the elderly from the vital functions of society” (518).
Iranians deeply value their social and cultural traditions. The Persian revolution formed the basis through which the country evolved and foundation upon which its empires were established. The Islamic regime practiced by the country formed the basis through which the country’s sophisticated institutions were built. Shah seemed to champion for secularization and westernization (Axworthy,

The first thing to find was some basic information about Iran. I found out that Iran is located in southwestern Asia. The language for Iran is Persian, Arabic words, or dialects of Turkish. The climate in Iran is hot summers and cold winters across the plateau (Iran, Encyclopedia).
