To fully appreciate MLK’s legacy, one has to understand his importance during the American Civil Rights Movement. The American Civil War was growing, which could have very likely led to the fall of the strongest nation in the world.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was a pastor, an activist, and a leader of the African-American Civil Rights Movement. He had a huge impact in the Civil Rights Movement for African-Americans and for people all over the world. He was known for promoting nonviolent protest, inspired by Ghandi. Mr. King is now a heroic figure to modern American liberalism.

His father and grandfather were both pastors which therefore bestowed values such as integrity and compassion to him. Martin Luther King Jr. was a very influential man in the life of many people. He transformed the lives of blacks and whites as a whole and should be viewed by people as a hero. He stood up for what he believed in, and helped change the America into how we know it today. Martin Luther King Jr. was a strong man and never let anything stand in his way of accomplishing the goal he set out to do, which was to get blacks their freedom/equal rights.

Most people tend to associate MLK as standing for African American rights, but I don’t exactly agree with this. He was so much more than that. His entire philosophy stands on not just the foundation that African Americans are equal or segregation is wrong, it stands on love and acceptance. This is a lesson he taught to everyone in America and countries around the world. Love is a lesson every race can learn. This is why I believe Martin Luther King Jr is the most influential person in history.

He later became a Baptist minister and activist leader for the movement of black equality (Wikipedia). He became the most evident spokesperson and leader in the Civil Rights Movement. The Civil Rights Movement was the largest movement in the 20th century and was the movement to secure rights for African Americans (Davis, 2014). MLK died April 4, 1968 when he was standing on his motels second floor balcony and was shot by James Early Ray. He was one of the utmost American Civil Rights leaders of the 1960s trying to get rid of discrimination and segregation laws in the South.
