I have been looking for a position that would utilize the strong skills I have developed over the years combined with my love of working with children. Wanting to create a positive impact for students and families, I believe that working in a school environment is a way to do this. I believe I possess the necessary skills and experience you are seeking and would be a valuable addition to your school.
Trained as an educator with a Master’s Degree from Xavier University, I taught in the public school system for 13 years. Currently, I work as the Director of Children’s Ministries at an 1100-member church. Although I have thoroughly loved and learned much through my current position, I miss the daily connections with students and academics.

Greetings to you all! I am Erika Kennedy. I currently live in Georgia where I am a first grade teacher. I have been teaching for 15 years and I don't consider it a job, but my purpose in life. I enjoy what I do and count it as a privilege to be able to make a difference in the lives of students and families where I am invested. Honestly, as I considered my next steps in my career, somehow I always knew that I was destined to do more than just that of a classroom setting. Others often encouraged me to step up more in the area of leadership, however, I sat back waiting for my turn to take the lead. Soon I realized that I didn't have to wait on others to push me into the position that I desired, but that I can set my own career path. Staying

From a young age, I was taught that education is paramount. Various members of my immediate and extended family work as educators. Many summers I have spent in my mother’s school helping her prepare her classroom, and I enjoy
Having discovered my calling to work with nontraditional students, I took a position with St. Charles Youth and Family Services as a Teacher of Experiential Education. This position allowed me to interact with urban students from MPS who were expelled, court ordered or Special Education students who were deemed best suited to self-contained program. I loved the challenge every day. Every student was so different, but they all wanted and craved the same thing… acceptance and unconditional love. I wanted more.
Going into the teaching profession has been my passion for quite some time now. Although teaching can have many different stereotypes and misconceptions, I still choose to continue towards this career. Every job has it’s own stereotypes and misconceptions. I currently work at a school, which has offered me a lot of on the job training for my future career. My current job has allowed me to see the different stereotypes and misconceptions that come along with the teaching career field. I am fortunate to already be working in my career field so I can prepare for the future stereotypes and misconceptions when I am a teacher of my own classroom.
During my last thirty years of my working life, I have only spent the last nine in education. I spent most of this time working in the oil field, traveling and living life as a “company man”. It was a divorce that shined a light on the possibilities of a career in education. I was now a single father with a three-year old little girl. I could no longer dedicate myself to call hours, weekend commitments, and travel demands of the oil industry. I took my first teaching job working in a private Christian school in Katy, Texas. There I developed and taught a new Computer Literature curriculum. With a bachelor of science degree in Information Technology and Networking Management I attend an alternative certification program to teach in the public sector. I took my first public teaching job at an alternative school call Compass, teaching eighth grade math. To say that I went into education heads first with this school is an understatement. Compass is a transition school for kids either coming from or the last chance before a child detention center. I was able to interact with many students having ADHD and/or behavior problems. There were times when my entire class had a BIP, IEP or both. The processes,
Through the years I have been given several opportunities to advance into administration, but I have realized my passion lies in the classroom developing students and teachers through servant leadership. I believe my realization happened when serving as a Mentor Teacher through TAP. Being part of TAP, I realized that I have much to offer other teachers, and I can serve peers without forfeiting service to my students. This was quite a welcomed relief because servant leadership is what I love, and I just happen to do that through education. Serving as a Mentor Teacher, I welcomed the responsibility of ensuring our teachers were well educated on district and state expectations, as
I have been working on my Master’s Degree in Exceptional Student Education at Southeastern University now for four semesters. I have learned so much in this short time and cannot believe how quickly the time is passing. I am a wife of a loving husband and a mother of five children ranging in age from 23 to 12 years. I have been serving the Lord since 1993. I currently work as an educational therapist for a private center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Teaching is something that I thought I would do later on in life, when I am an old man and had all of these life experiences. That was my thinking anyway. So, I did that and they asked me to teach lower school P.E. with the little kids. I had a degree in history and they had already had this position filled, so I was working part time here and part time there and then gradually the position opened up here. I started two classes in history and government and now I have all of the history. I kind of worked my way form part time at the very bottom, all the way up to the top, if you want to call it that here. It’s a small pyramid.
I began my professional career in education. I have taught children of various ages and diverse backgrounds— from English language learners to children with occupational needs. I strived to be both a role model and a resource—providing
