“Obama Care” is the republican nickname for the new health care reform law passed by President Barack Hussein Obama, called the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, based on a law passed in Massachusetts by Governor Mitt Romney. Despite controversy regarding this new law, it will inevitably positively benefit the people of the United States of America. The law introduces reforms such as: lower health insurance premiums by expanding Medicare and Medicaid, which ensures that the poor and sick have insurance. This is because the law requires that everyone in the United States obtain health insurance, either through government plans, a private insurance plan, their employer, or the new health care marketplace. “Obama Care” betters the people of the United States and is a completely utilitarian Idea- it benefits the greater part of the Community. There are currently 44 million Americans who were unable to obtain health insurance before the reforms because they could not afford the premiums or because they had a pre-existing condition. “Obama Care” is a tax funded government program which helps these individuals obtain insurance by expanding Medicare and Medicaid and offering cost assistance through health insurance market places. It also provides reforms to the health care industry iin order to cut health care costs and provide affordable health insurance to all. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (or PPACA) originated as a Massachusetts law signed into effect
