Civilization is considered to be a stage in the human development, which is considered the most advanced in society. The act of not being an uneducated person. Savagery refers to being cruel, violent, and unnmannered. In other words savagery is the opposite of what civilization is. Lord of the Flies is a story in which its conflict is between savagery and civilization. In the book Lord of the Flies we can see that as the story goes on the boys lose their order, education, and become violent.

At the beginning of the story Ralph finds a shell in a lagoon. Piggy told Ralph that they could use the shell to call the others, that way they could have a meeting. Since Ralph had the conch and the conch represented civilization and power Ralph was the chief. The boys start losing their order as a consequence of Jack's desire for power. In the book Ralph represents civilization, and Jack savagery.

Without civilization there would be no rules, morals, education, and organization. Living in a savagery way in which you have to act in a violent way to have power, and live under no rules causes chaos. That can be demonstrated by reading Lord of the Flies, at the beginning of the story the characters were acting in a civilized way. There was a chief who told everyone what to do, that way they would all help each other to get faster out of the island.
